Riding this railroad from Fraser to Skagway was like going back in time. As we traveled down through the White pass, it was a simple thing to imagine men hauling supplies on pack animals on their way to striking it rich in the Yukon. As we sat in the restored train car heated by wood stove, visions of raggedly dressed, unshaven men wending their way over rivers and along narrow mountain goat type paths filled my mind. Our tour guide team and conductors were extremely knowledgeable regarding the historical aspects of this restored train system and the area. We made our way past stunted dwarf alpine trees and huge soaring hemlocks; over a rushing river and past beautiful waterfalls. I highly recommend this tour to anyone visiting the Skagway area. Just the time warp is worth the journey.
