Best secret in the valley 11/25/2008

After reading the last 4 reviews about a month ago, I had a business meeting in Encino last week I saw the Whisper Cafe which is located in a shopping center next to CVS I walked in there expecting the worst food and bad service according to the reviews that I read I ordered a cobb Salad which I was very surprised it was made with a freshest ingredient and also being an organic was very pleasing experience with a very good green Ice tea which was very refreshing than I saw the colorful pastry display and I tried the cream puff which was excellent I am glad the I tried that place . Tonight I was surfing the web I end up in the city search and I had to write about my experience at whisper Cafe and after reading those review again I notices that all of them been written on 8/29/ 08 or within a couple of days after therefore it seems to be a personal issue from a individual verses a genuine observation. Pros: Serving breakfast until 4PM more

Just terrible 9/1/2008

I went there for the pastries, I tried a cookie...it was possibly the worst thing I have ever tasted in my life. Need I say more? more

Nothing good about this restaurant 8/29/2008

Don't go for the sandwhiches, don't go for the pasta, don't go for the drinks, don't go for the service. This place is just a disaster I can't wait until it closes down so maybe we can get a decent restaurant in Encino. more

Simply terrible 8/29/2008

I can confidently say that is is the worst restaurant I've ever been to. There was one server for the entire restaurant and who was barely audible. And the orders came late and unappetizing. Not recommended AT ALL. more

worst place i've ever been 8/29/2008

There is nothing good to say about this restaurant. I came there for a quick bite and I ended not even eating the food that I ordered. The food was utterly disgusting and I never will return even if I am hungry! more

Appalling 8/29/2008

I came here with an enthusiastic friend, looking for a nice, light meal. I have never in my life received such terrible service. My friend ordered an item from the pasta menu, and she was served a plate of sauce and an eggplant, but no pasta. No matter, mistakes occur at every restaurant.... so we called on our waiter to take back the order. He returned to the kitchen, and I was surprised he didn't even take the plate back immediately. He returned to our table and stated that he was unable to do so, and told us to speak to the chef. The chef soon came out and we politely explained the problem, my friend stating that she didn't want to cause any problems. However, this chef stubbornly refused to take back our order, rudely claiming that we were unable to read the menu correctly. This man was ignorant, selfish, and looking to receive money rather than offer decent service. We eventually paid for this dish, due to the chef's rigidness. It is a complete and utter rip-off. I HIGHLY do not recommend ever eating there. Cons: terrible food, service more

DON""T GO HERE!!!! 8/29/2008

I have never been so angry after being at a restaurant. I love food with a passion. My family has a restaurant and I travel the world to try food. I wasn't even expecting anything brilliant, just something fast and decent to eat. So I come in there with a good mood, a best friend and leave with an empty stomach and disappointment. How might this happen? Well...I ordered something off the menu and they came out with something different. When I called over the waiter he said I had to speak to the chef. The chef came out in a horrible mood and denied me the right to the return the food (something that I didn't even order). the chef had the nerve to talk to me as if i was illiterate and wasn't capable of reading the menu. Don't go to this restaurant even if you are starving. This place has horrible food, (I tried the food the I didn't order), and horrible service, there isn't even any ambiance. Pros: nothing Cons: everything more

Um...Huh? 7/5/2008

Honey, that's BAGUETTE. A ""banquette"" is something you sit on, built-in seating along the side of a wall - or in a booth. They are often made of vinyl - or, in really fancy places, leather. You may want to have someone help you edit your posts. OK food, needs work in other areas though. more

The Best Cafe / Restaurant in the CIty! Many regulars will attest to that fact! 5/2/2008

Whisper Cafe is by far the best cafe restaurants in Los Angeles. If you miss that afternoon cafe experience that you had in Paris, then long for it no more! Vivre Le Whisper Cafe! Whisper Cafe is a friendly respite from its busy Ventura Blvd location. Sit among the friendly customers, their pets and staff at a patio table to enjoy incredible food! Please avoid the Starbucks and Coffee Bean nearby! This cafe has the best coffees from Italy (Lavazza) and freshly bakes it breads and pastry onsite. Please indulge on the various flavored Macaroons (Almond, Vanilla and Pistachio) which are beyond description and the yummy carrot and coconut cakes. Breakfast is a winner too! From simple delicious oatmeal, fantastic omelets with a fresh baguette! Originally I was looking for a review of a coconut cake that I saw on the Internet over a year ago and I found that this restaurant had changed owners and its name from L'Artiste Patisserie. Since my first visit, I have been back as many as four times a week for coffee, breakfast, lunch and dinner. I also have taken cakes, pastries and a banquettes home! Bravo to the Owners, Chris the Chef and Yvette. The staff, Yari and Xavier are top notch servers and will spoil you for any other dining experience. My recommendations for breakfast, the Whisper Omelet and Oatmeal, for lunch any of the terrific sandwiches on Banquettes. Huge salads! Dinner have the Lentil soup and Beef Wellington which are delicious and save room for a Napoleon and a cafe au lait! The dinner selection is top notch and offer vegetarian choices. Again save room for the pastries! Bring a bottle of wine with you or buy one at the nearby CVS. Please say ?Hello? to me, most likely I will be sitting at the front patio table enjoying my cafe and a good book! Pros: Friendly Service, GREAT FOOD!, GREAT Bakery!, GREAT Coffee! Cons: NONE!!!!!!!!! more
