I have been renting from Ski Base since they were open. Not only are they friendly, helpful and filled with knowledge, they are caring. Over the years, they have encouraged me to try different skis, improve my ability, and get to know the mountain with a variety of skis. If a ski doesn't fit my needs, I just ski down the mountain and change it out. Takes about 10 minutes to do. I feel they have helped me improve my skiing through their encouragement. I wouldn't go to any other ski shop in Vail, and I encourage everyone to go to Ski Base. They are locally owned and all of their employees are avid skiers who really get it. By the way, their head tech guy has been with them from the beginning and they wax and service your own skis until they are done each night. Sometimes, that is very, very late if they are busy. Can NOT believe the horrible, horrible customer service at this place...and at Vail! We reserved rentals a month in advance because they had such good prices. Well...when we got there, they did not have rentals in our size. Worse--they gave my teenager a size bigger and told him it was his size. This is very dangerous and downright criminal on their part. Because of their incompetence in being able to honor their reservation, we had to pay ""walk-in"" prices at three times the cost at another rental place of what we had planned. I emailed the owner/manager and asked for an explanation and never got one. I intend to tell everyone in every review possible how horrible I think this place is. I think it's a shame for Vail to allow such a rental place--it gives the resort a bad reputation as far as I'm concerned more
