I had the great mispleasure of paying for Weston-Miles Architectural services several years ago. Charles Weston came off as very confident and professional, but this pretense soon eroded to overbearing and cocky. The price I paid was very high, yet the quality of work was very poor. Charles went on an extended vacation when my drawing deadline was approaching. He left the job to his assistant, who then either was fired or quit. The job then was handled by Charles' wife, who seemed to have no desire to work on it. Many items that had been worked through with the assistant never made it to the final drawings. One exterior door way was left 8 ft in the air with no access. The master bedroom had a 4-5 step stairway to its entrance, yet the ceiling was not compensated in the design (Thus, the floor and ceiling merged at the master bedroom entrance.) My location had a grand valley view, yet Weston Miles design failed to capture this view. Nearly all local home designs had built garages into the hillside, yet Weston-Miles recommended wasting a great deal of lot footage for an extensive and expensive driveway (the house should have been located over the garage on such a hillside design). Weston recommended a single story design to minimize cost, yet I was informed by other architects much later, that a much cheaper design would have been a two-story design (my foundation alone was extremely expensive due to the one-story hillside design and retaining wall costs). I found Weston-Miles to lack creative vision, failed to capture near and far views, where very difficult to work with, did not communicate well, did not understand the associated costs of materials and construction well, and lacked attention to small details. I would recommend anyone looking for an architect to keep looking.
Pros: Other architects are still available; look them up. (THUMBS DOWN, WAY DOWN)
Cons: Lacked vision, creativity, mis-managed time, lacked attention to detail, knowledge of construction costs seemed poor
