Westminster School

This is a lovely facility with some very dedicated staff but the school is primarily focused on theater and not on educational basics. The head of school is a frustrated thespian singer dancer who is out of touch with the makings of a balanced education. He is not an educator and lacks any business sense. The school's budget and staffing in performance art is excessive and leaves the balance of the school curriculum underfunded and poorly staffed. This year a third of the professional teaching staff either left or was dismissed. In general the departing staff were replaced by inexperienced newly graduated teachers. Preference was given to Westminster alumni. It remains to be seen how well this cost cutting effort will work out. It has however instilled or should I say heightened the atmosphere of fear and distrust that has permeated the faculty and staff for many many years. Westminster School - Annandale, Va Considering? DON'T!\r \r Mr. Glover has to be one of the strangest individuals I have ever met, from his 1980's attire to his pedophile well trimmed beard to the strange little earring he wears. For a guy that has been at Westminster for over 30 years I find it hard to believe the board of directors hasn't considered actually finding someone with a solid educational background and/or even a tad bit of experience in the field of his expertise. Perhaps the simple fact is he and his assistant are both on the board of directors themselves. \r \r Mr. Glover's focus on Shakespeare and the NEVER ENDING drama classes are ridiculous. The guy says its about the children but he only talks about himself, he'll thanks you for your work while again talking about himself. SELF CENTERED is an understatement.\r \r To what do we owe a self centered self serving headmaster to a which we write the checks? Perhaps simply a tad of credibility or even a dose of balance within the constrains of our children's education. Mr. Glover is without question an odd ball moreover how deep is this rabbit hole of self righteousness. It's like the blind leading the blind with all the kings men following him right off the cliff.\r \r Lord help a parent who questions a teacher or even a staff member of this exclusive club you will be shunned like a Quaker who built a table with one short leg. Should we not question the means and methods to our children's education. The last time I checked I'm paying for it.\r \r Coming from a family of educators I am baffled by the not so obvious lack of teacher credentials and lack of annual evaluations. Are we to assume that the few that have actually attended and graduated collage with a degree in :""Education"" is sufficient. Seriously what is a degree in education? Might as well graduated with a degree in political science. Worthless.\r \r Another parent ask me the other day if the entire front office was related, not having much interaction with them directly I was unable to answer honestly, perhaps further investigation is necessary.\r \r Signed, Baffled and Confused. more
