West Side Market

The West Side Market is by far the best place in the Cleveland area to get fresh food. Fruits, vegetables, fish, chicken, you name it. Most vendors will also allow you to haggle on the price. Make sure, however, to inspect the food yourself before you buy. Some vendors, albeit rarely, will throw in a few spoiled items, but if you pick them out yourself you should be fine. There is both an indoor and outdoor area. Most of the fruits and veggies are outside, with meat and poultry being inside. Total area of this place is huge so make sure you have plenty of time before you go. more

West Side Market is a wonderful place to go with so many venders inside from produce, meat, fish, Nuts, Flowers, pizza and so much more. You can spend all day just visiting the vendors. What great bargains you can find. I believe it's Vince's Meats where we find the tastiest ribs in town. Come on down and find out for yourselves. more

The West Side Market is a Cleveland institution. Still an open air market after all these years. The building is covered, but open on the sides (and there is one enclosed section now, but who's counting). Why anyone shops at a regular supermarket when the West Side is just a short drive away is beyond me. Fresh, fresh, fresh - those are the three words to remember. You walk from stall to stall and buy what you need from each vendor. And these vendors know their products (some have been selling at the Market for generations) - ask questions! Most vendors offer samples too. Any food item you can think of is probably at the West Side Market: fresh Ohio produce, meats, poultry, fish, divine cheeses, bakery products. In short, anything you can get a the supermarket, but without the supermarket price tags. Oh, did I forget to mention - the prices are awesome. You won't believe what you get for the money. more
