Wentworth and Sloan, Inc. were contracted by me to repair my Omega Speedmaster. What should have been a simple reattachment of a loose dial hand resulted in a completely broken chronometer. The manager/owner and watch repairman insisted that the chronometer was broken when I brought the watch in, which is false. The service I requested was only to reattach the loose dial hand, and nothing more. The manager/owner indicated to me that ""adjustments were made to the chronometer"", which was not requested by me. The manager/owner and watch repairman then recanted their statements to me when I phoned the police, and told the police that no adjustments were made aside from what I requested. The manager/owner refused to give me my copy of the invoice, which described the services I agreed to and on which the watch repairman wrote simply ""Put hand back on"". The manager/owner additionally refused to give that invoice to the police. I began gathering evidence to commence a lawsuit against Wentworth and Sloan, Inc. to recover damages for the repair of my broken chronometer. To assess the damage Wentworth and Sloan, Inc. caused, I took the watch to a reputable BBB accredited watch repairman outside of Chapel Hill, who informed me that my watch's chronometer could be easily fixed and that it was highly likely the previous repairman caused a lever to be displaced when he was removing the movement mechanism to repair the displaced dial hand. Wentworth and Sloan, Inc. could easily have remedied their careless work by requesting time to assess the damage themselves. They did not. Instead, they lied to me, the Chapel Hill police, and withheld my invoice so that I could not use it against them in a lawsuit. Fortunately, the BBB accredited watch repairman I consulted informed me that his repair charges were nominal and pursuing litigation against Wentworth and Sloan, Inc. was not cost effective for me or the small claims court of Orange County, NC. As a professional in NC, I would strongly advise against allowing Wentworth and Sloan, Inc. of Chapel Hill, NC to handle your timepiece. They have proved dishonest at the very least and may very well be employing a watch repairman who is not qualified to service high end time pieces. BEWARE of these individuals. Complaint with the BBB of NC is currently pending and unlikely to be removed.
