Great gifts and keepsakes 3/29/2006

Wendell August Forge has beautifully handcrafted products. Take a tour of the forge and then look in the gift shop. They offer unique gifts at prices keeping with the quality of the products. Many of the things can be personalized making great presents for a new baby or wedding. There is another store at the outlet mall and you can also sign up for catalogs. more

Metal Craftsmanship at it's Best 2/26/2006

Wendell August Forge is a true working forge with attached showroom. You can find some of the best man made metal forged products, all made by skilled craftsmen. Daily tours are also available. This place is a popular bus tour stop on any shopping or touring trips in the area. We have purchased some handmade Christmas ornaments there every year and have even made sure the same craftsman made the pieces (All pieces initialed by the maker). Prices are a bit expensive, but you are getting one of a kind hand made articles of excellent quality. They have an extensive catalog of products and will ship your purchase anywhere in the US. more

Wendell August Forge is a prime example of how craftsmanship is still alive and well in metalworking. I love visiting this store, which also serves as a working factory for the pieces sold in the showrooms. You can choose from many handcrafted pieces, each with a distinguishing maker's mark of one of the one-site artisans. Products range from coasters and plates to jewelry, office products, and ornaments. This a great place to take your entire family. The kids will enjoy the tour of the factory, and you can stock up on Christmas presents for next year! They have a large parking lot, but be warned that WAF is quite popular with tour groups. more
