it would be pretentious to say what i spent @ weisshouse over a 2 year period. the point is you expect superior service along with the product. my experience there deteriorated over that time period. mostly due to an apathetic associate. the end of my cumulative experience involved the wrong wool carpet order. tough to accomplish considering i only had 2 samples? a 50% chance! after speaking to the owner, i was given a $250 off coupon for my NEXT purchase. how kind. for pittsburgh, weisshouse does carry first class product. the path along the way can be altogether different. being committed to a customer's satisfaction should be pro-active not re-active. their shipping charges are nearly double for their ligne roset line vs ordering from LR in new york. i know, i experienced it after i stopped shopping there. ps, NEVER accept a weisshouse furniture delivery scheduled for a friday afternoon! more

I'm new to Pittsburgh. I moved here last month and happened to drive by Weisshouse on my way home. It looked interesting and had free parking so I went in. Let me just say, I'm in love! Weisshouse has quite a selection. I consider my tastes to be more ""traditional"" and Stan (one of the salespeople) showed me a few sofas that fit my taste to a T. Happily, they were also having a Mitchell Gold sale. I'll be back for sure. more

I've been shopping at Weisshouse for years now, and I always keep coming back because I know that every time I return, they're going to have a ton of completely new and original pieces. It's the sort of character stuff that you're just never going to find in a chain store. Plus the staff members are always very knowledgeable with helpful suggestions regarding interior design choices. more

I must agree with ""prophotog"". Weisshouse is the best place to shop for vintage and new furniture as well as rugs and an amazing selection of carpet. With so many other retailers going out of business, it's nice to know that Weisshouse is here to stay. Trust me, there is no where else to get the Weisshouse level of service or talent. more

I must say, I was shocked today to come across these reviews for Weisshouse! I am a commercial photographer living and working in Pittsburgh. I have shopped all over the US to find decor and furniture for my loft and studio. Weisshouse is hands down my favorite spot in Pittsburgh, if not in the US to find unique items nobody else has. The staff has come to know my style and instantly knows what direction to point me in. The amazing items they carry are all hand picked by their in store designers and owner. They have gone so far as to move delivery date with a day notice when I have needed new purchases weeks earlier then I had planned. With this all being said, I am by far not a huge client, picking up items from time to time. I have always received amazing service no matter how large or small my purchase may have been. I always personally refer them to friends or clients looking to make any space look great! more

Beautiful store but snobby and unhelpful people 3/4/2011

I have to agree with the ""snobby"" comment referring to the salespeople here. It's as though they can't be bothered with you, even if you're the only customer in the store (which isn't uncommon) and I'VE PURCHASED FROM THEM BEFORE! One time I decided to take them up on their oft-pushed design consultation services and had Stan (one of the salespeople) come over to brainstorm window treatments. He went all through my house, never complimented anything (which is just poor manners, even if you think a house is ugly), took a few measurements, said he'd call me in a day or two, and I never heard from him again. If only Pgh had a decent selection of chic furniture stores Weisshouse would get its attitude checked. Truly, you're better off going to ABC Home in nyc. more

Something new every time I go there 12/14/2009

I too was very surprised to see the negative review below. I have been shopping at Weisshouse for three years now, since I first moved to Shadyside, and I've always found their staff incredibly helpful. They have a great knowledge, not just of the product, but also of design and how that product will fit in with the rest of my furnishings. That's the primary reason I shop there, as opposed to a typical chain store. Although, I also love that they sell a lot of items that you can't find anywhere else. Even when I'm not planning on making a purchase, I always enjoy strolling around the store to see what new things they've found. Pros: Knowledgable staff, Unique furnishings and accessories more
