Dear Pitt fan 4 life, Please allow me to respond to your issues. First off thank you very much for your compliments on our care. I have been in practice for over 27 years and have taken care of over 17000 patients during my career. We do have one of the largest practices in western Pa. I would like to think due to the top notch care and service we provide. Thanks again.
As for the billing procedures, you are under contract with your insurance carrier as we are with most as well. We only get reimbursed what your insurance carrier deems UCR (usual reasonable and customary). We do collect co-pays as per your contract with the ins carrier as well as ours. If you were not paying your copay it is because your FSA was picking this up as it should. With all the new FSA, HSA, etc plans many companies do not understand how they work and it has become a billing nightmare for all practitioners as well as patients. My insurance staff is very well versed in these matters and it is not our fault if your company or you for that matter did not contact us to rectify this situation. We have helped thousands of patients with their insurance questions over the years and will continue to do so even though it is ultimately you, the patient, that has the contract with your carrier. We do this free of charge even with the headaches it causes my staff. I am sorry your company or you did not bring this to my attention personally or to the attention of Jen or Geri my billing staff. We would have been more than happy to help you out with this. As for the fees for service, we provide outstanding care for our patients and this will not change. If you check your explanation of benefits provided to you by your insurance company you will see the true amount paid and I'm sure it will be within the ""standard"" limits you described for other Chiropractic care you received. I really am disappointed in you that you would intentionally mislead the public as to what you and your insurance company actually paid for our services. We don't set the fees. Your insurance carrier sets the fee schedule and every carrier is different. Again a nightmare for our insurance staff. This is why most offices now have you pay up front and let you on your own to deal with the insurance carrier. Even though the cost of dealing with the insurance companies is becoming prohibitive, we will continue to provide this service to all of out loyal patients, past, present and future. Thank you, Dr Gary Weinstein DC
