We made spur-of-the-moment lunch reservations last Saturday while in Vegas for the weekend, as we had heard that the view was great and the food was to die for. When we arrived, we were surprised to find a security checkpoint, but I guess you can't be too careful these days. We took a quick elevator ride to the restaurant, and were promptly seated. The view was just incredible--the rotating restaurant took a little bit of getting used to, and it took my date about 5 minutes to overcome her initial vertigo, but it was the highlight of our afternoon. Our waitress (Jeanne from Long Island) was very kind and personable, and when we couldn't decide between getting the Tower Salad or an appetizer, she helpfully recommended that we split a salad and get an appetizer as well. When the salad arrived on two smaller plates, we were amazed at the quantity of salad--there was plenty for both of us. The salad included Mixed greens with Anjou pears, apricots, candied walnuts and Balsamic vinaigrette. It was good, but nothing spectacular. This was followed by the Kobe Carpaccio (thin sliced beef served with Reggiano cheese and fresh greens). The Reggiano was to die for, but the beef lacked flavor and the fresh greens seemed superfluous. The entrees were good, not fantastic (but perhaps this was due to the fact that it was lunch, and many restaurants don't have their best staff on hand midday). The Prime Rib was served with Au Jus and creamy horseradish sauce, and was very flavorful and cooked just right. The potatoes were dry, and the vegetables flavorless. My date had the Filet Mignon, which was very tender and nicely flavored with the lemon butter caper sauce and two shrimp. It was served on a bed of greens, which seemed to be a strange choice. We enjoyed the Chocolate brownie trio, which was trio of white, milk and dark chocolate brownies on vanilla ice cream topped with chocolate and caramel sauces - the brownies were a little bit dry, but tasty. Give it a try, enjoy the view!!
Pros: Beautiful and unique view of Vegas, great service, nice setting
Cons: Decent food, just not spectacular. Could kick it up a notch.
