Awesome Customer Service 11/11/2009

Thanks to Jessica at Wedding Atelier I found my dream dress! She was so helpful, supportive & nice and worked hard for me during my brief visit to NYC. I'd recommend Wedding Atelier as the number one NY wedding store to visit. Thanks!! Pros: Most helpful service more

Very Happy Customer 10/6/2009

This shop was the best of all the places I went to, including Kleinfelds and Mark Ingram. I would say the only other shop that even came close was Amsale. Wedding Atelier is clean, small and carries a handful of excellent designers. They will work with you to add details or take away details from your dress. I recommend going early in the day- you'll have the whole place to yourself! Pros: Small, Attentive, Clean, Friendly Cons: Can be $$ but it is worth it more

Great experience from beginning to end! 9/28/2009

I bought my dress at Wedding Atelier from a lovely stylist named Jenna. From the moment we walked in we were greeted warmly and given slippers. After trying on a couple of dresses, I quickly fell in love with an Alvina Valenta dress. Jenna was very upfront with me about what could and couldn't be done to the dress as far as customizations. She let me and my sisters take some time to sit and think about it and I couldn't have made a better decision. I needed my dress in kind of a rush and they delivered! My dress arrived a few days ahead of time and my seamstress was very accomodating. Jenna was there to help me through the fittings and she was dead on with everything. My dress was perfect on my wedding day. I can't say enough about this place! Wonderful! Pros: Excellent service, beautiful atmosphere more

THE BEST SALON; MUST GO HERE!!!! 6/17/2009

I don't know where to begin. Wedding Atelier saved me! I worked with manager Carrie and mai ( the best seamstress ever). I walked in there facing a total dress emergency less than 2 weeks before my wedding. The dress I had orginially ordered at another wedding salon was horrible and in my opinion nothing I could wear. I stumbled upon wedding altelier without an appointment and explained my dress emergency. The staff was beyond helpful and encouraging. I must have tried on 10-15 dresses and found the one! so beautiful. It was strapless but Mai made me the most beautful matching cap sleeve lace jacket that completed the dress. In basically 1 week and 1 day I walked out of there with my perfect dress thanks to the wonderful women who are at this salon. Carried promised me the quick turnaround and she delivered right on time and everything was just PERFECT. This store changed my whole emotional state leading up to my wedding. They are the best and I loved my dress and received soooo many complements on it at my wedding. Unbelievable customer service and Carrie has an unbelievable sense for style and what does/doesn't work for everyone. the best. words truly cannot describe how wonderful this place is and how much they helped me. THE BEST!!!! go here for your dress!!!!\r \r Pros: customer service, dress selection more

Do yourself a favor and dont go to this shop 5/14/2009

\r I found it in the internet and I wish I had read some reviews before. I have the worst shopping experience ever, even if it was probably the most important dress of my life. Where do I start? By saying that on my first appointment a girl was crying in her wedding gown, and they didn’t seem to be able to calm her down. That should have been a BIG SIGN FOR ME TO RUN AWAY but unfortunately I bought my dress there to a very nice saleswoman called Andrea. Andrea was not there for my second appointment or ever after--she was fired. And I didnt find anyone nicer after that. My dress arrived in time, but since the sample was so old, the fabric on the new one had a different texture and color, and a HUGE SEAM from the underskirt was showing. It was a big problem, which I marked to May--a very smiley but completely clueless seamstress-- and disgusting Carrie/Julie...manager and sales woman respectively. They told me they could take care of it by ironing it (yeah sure) or adding a piece of fabric (literally a 30 cm under skirt, which made 3 seams to show instead of 1). All through my fittings it became evident that they couldn’t fix it, and then it was when they started saying that it wasn’t their fault, it was the designer's (Cymbeline) and that they couldn’t do anything about it. May was also inept in pulling up the train, so I ended having to cut my train, which I later regretted. To make a long story short: I almost bought a new dress, but in the end I took it to an expert seamstress who actually had to build a new skirt to solve the problem. I threw away the 500 dollars they charged for alterations and had to pay on top of that. Furthermore, I can not explain the level of anguish I went through because of this crappie place. Lesson learned: don’t go here, ever. And if you buy a dress it is better to deal with the designer directly than with intermediaries as this place is\r Cons: all more

ABSOLUTELY FANTASTIC 3/19/2009

After going into Pronovias and being completely dissatisfied with anything coupled with the"" we don't do alterations, we don't do extra beading"" line... i proceeded to WA with little faith... As was ABSOLUTELY SURPRISED.. My wedding is in April 09 and was in the store in Sept. i was attended to by a FANTASTIC lady called JESSICA who makes every bride feel wonderful... I completely explained my concept to her and the limitations that we were faced with being i was flying in from Nigeria, Africa and would only be making 1 more trip to NY for my fitting so i needed everything done as quickly as possible.. I found a gress that was OK... but by the time Jessica was done with it, it was my DREAM DRESS... She completely knows her stuff so she gets you very quickly and is quick to go and bring samples very similar to what you are talking about.. I ended up picking my dress on the first day of looking... That left me with plenty of time for my shoes and evrything else.. Jessica proceeded to email me every few weeks keeping me updated on the progress of my veil, headpiece, dress and evrything else.. Getting to NY in Feb and having literally 36hrs for my fitting, they were wonderful.. I got in bright and early and everything was out waiting for me.. All the alterations that could be done without me were done and all i had to do was fit my dress... They were very accomodating as i went in for a 10am appt, went back for a 6pm final fit and picked up the next day at 12pm... Wedding Atelier are completely worth every extra cents u pay... I would recomend tham to my friends and family... Pros: Exceptionally friendly, Polite and Clean.... Cons: None... They are very accomodating more

Beautiful wedding dresses 12/23/2008

This is a great place to start out your dress search. They have lots of styles and designers, and prices ranging from $450-$10,000! (the under $1000 are mainly samples and promos, fyi). Debra, my attendant, was extremely friendly and knowledgeable. Best of all, I found my perfect dress here! Pros: after a long search i found my dress here, what more can i say! Cons: it's hard to find the place, didn't really see any signs more

The BEST Bridal Gown Shop 12/17/2008

I had a great experience at Wedding Atelier. From the first time I entered the shop until I picked up my gown it was a most pleasurable event. Firstly, the shop is beautiful- neat, clean, organized, relaxed. They make you take off your shoes so the floor stays clean to help keep the dress samples in good condition. The owner, Carrie, and her staff are so helpful, knowledgable, and easy to work with. They were all accomodating as far as setting up appointments, looking at and trying on gowns and veils, and taking care with fittings to make sure the dress looked its best. The dress selection is top-notch and you will find gowns that you will not see anywhere else in the city! When we realized there was a slight problem with my dress Carrie was very quick to rectify the situation and went above and beyond to make it right. I can not say enough good things about Wedding Atelier and would recommend everyone to buy their wedding gown here. Pros: excellent staff, atmosphere, great selection more

The most outstanding customer service of any NY bridal salon! 12/13/2008

I recently visited Wedding Atelier at the referral of a friend. My wedding is towards the end of 2009. I am really not ready to purchase but was highly encouraged to make an appointment to start my gown search. I had already visited Kleinfeld and Saks. Tyhe experiences there were neddless to say, lackluster. And I really felt that every appointment I would have thereafter would be the same. I didn't realize that this should actually be a fun experience.\r From the moment I stepped through the door to leaving, I felt like I was the center of attention for once. I was greated by the manager who offered me slippers to myself and my mom. I was confused what this was for and then she explained that they care for their dresses so much that they keep them clean by asking people to remove their shoes. Being in spa slippers, already put me inn a relaxing mood! I was then introduced to my stylist who was Grace. I explained to her my style and concern that this was really still the early part of my plannig. I was never once told that I had to buy that day or I needed to hurry up and order. Kleinfeld makes it a point for you to know this! I selected some lovely gowns with my mom. I am planning on going back in Januaary. I have since then, visited 3 other salons. And no one absolutely no one has matched the lovely feeling and pampering I received at wedding atelier. I would highly reccommend this salon to anyone starting the ir wedding gown search that favors personal and intimate service in a calming salon free of pressure. Pros: Knowledgeable and caring staff, manager on hand, calm environment, no sales pressure more

I found the dress of my dreams!!! 9/23/2008

I had an appointment at Wedding Atelier on a Saturday and of course it's the day that brides bring their entourage with them! I had 5 people with me (My mom of course, 2 bridesmaids,my aunt, and a coworker). I expected that we would be asked to make room for other people that might have less people with them. But that never happened. We were shown a fitting room that had wall to wall mirrors. And a lovely chaise for my guests to sit on. I think I had the last appointment of the day , because the store was emptying out. But our consultant was full of energy and gave us the same service as if we were the first appointment! My family was offered water as a refreshment while they waited as I browsed the gowns with my sales assistant. When we came back to the room I had about 7 gowns to try on. All the gowns were lovely and my heart started to melt as I saw the gown I tried on that caught my eye when I first walked in and it was on a mannequin. My mom started to cry and my bridesmaids were speechless! I chose an Alvina Valenta gown with lace all on the satin gown, It was a 2009 style. Needless to say a sale had been made! My sales specialist then helped me pick out a matching veil and jewelery.By this time, it was already 30 minutes past their closing time. AND WE WERE NOT RUSHED LIKE AT KLEINFELD!\r Before we left I my sales girl hugged me and thanked me for allowing her to partake in this experience. I should be thanking her!!! The sales people and managing staff really care about their brides! I would recommend this salon to every bride. From the moment I made my appointment to my dress decision, I felt pampered and listened to. THIS SALON MIGHT BE SMALLER THAN KLEINFELD, BUT THE SERVICE SPEAKS VOLUMES!!!THANK YOU WEDDING ATELIER FOR HELPING ME FIND MY DREAM DRESS!!! Pros: DRESSES FOR EVERY PRICE RANGE, MIRROR SPACE, LOVELY STAFF Cons: NONE :) more

Go to David's Bridal before here - you'll get better service - REALLY! 9/22/2008

I had a horrible time at Wedding Atelier. My consultant did NOT listen at all. I said that A line was my best fit (after trying on several gowns at other salong previously) - she suggested I look around. About 10 minutes later, I had a few dresses and she suggested a few that were not a-lne and looked horrible on me. The dressing rooms were uncomfortably hot. When I say a dress on another bride to be that I liked, I asked if I could try it. She said no because the other bride would be in the dress for awhile (total lie). I can't convey how HORRIBLE the service is here. Not a fun experience at all. Go to Mark Ingram or Kleinfelds for much better service (and selection for that matter). Pros: NONE! Cons: Serice, Selection, Dressing Room Comfort. more

Great experience with Andrea 9/20/2008

Had a wonderful time choosing dresses at Wedding Atelier. Andrea could not have been more friendly or calming during my first dress appointment. She only showed me dresses in my price point to make sure I didn't fall in love with anything I couldn't afford and totally got the vision I was looking for. I HIGHLY recommend meeting with her if you make an appointment. Pros: alterations a la carte, nice staff, nice store more

Excellent Experience 9/20/2008

I recently visited Wedding Atelier in search of a bridal gown. My friends had reccommended this location because of it's no pressure attitude. I was not planning to buy my wedding dress on this trip, but I was blown away by the selection of beautiful gowns and impeccable service from my consultant Debra. She made the entire experience stress free and special. She was AMAZING!!!! Any bride would be lucky to work with her. My family and friends felt right at home shopping with me. I left with the most breathtaking dress and a huge smile on my face. Pros: DEBRA!! more

Frustrating Experience! 9/19/2008

Does anyone know whats going on in this place?! My dress came in late and fitting it was a nightmare..The fitter didnt speak english and i was left alone without getting any guidance from any of the people there. I had to cancel my flights in order for the dress to be finished even after I made special arrangements with my salesperson to pick up my dress on specific dates. Finally the owner came to translate for the fitter, yet they still were having trouble and no one paid any attention to what it was i wanted done to the dress! The owner Carrie was insulting and rude to me and my friends when we showed our frustration that no one knew where my shoes were and that my veil hadnt come in yet after being promised that it would be there for my fitting. After we left I broke down because that was not the experience that I hoped to have for my wedding. And when I went to pick up my dress I was forced to pay for the alterations even after all I went through. I would never recommend them to anyone I know. Cons: no customer service more

Beautiful salon, no pressure 8/13/2008

Wedding Atelier was by far my best experience in the seach for a wedding gown. It's a beautiful shop with a good gown selection and huge fitting rooms. Most importantly the staff was fantastic. Specifically, my consultant was Debra. She was sweet, knowledgable, helpful and not the least bit pushy. I've been to other shops where I felt like I was a burden on the employees. This time I felt like I was shopping with a friend. This is a very nice shop without being snobby. I highly recommend checking it out. Pros: Debra, huge fitting rooms, beautiful salon, reasonable prices (including samples) more

THE BEST WEDDING SHOP IN NY! 8/7/2008

I went to Wedding Atelier with my co-worker that's getting a month after me. I unfortunately got my dress from Pronovias. For one Pronovias will tell you that the alterations are free and you think that you are getting a good deal. Then I found out that they already include a set fee within the ticket price of the gown! They outright lie to you to get your money! At Wedding Atelier, the price is signifigantly lower and not only that their alterations along with the gown still are cheaper than pronovias store. My friend is going back next week to purchase her dress. I wish I had gone here first. We were early for our appointment and were still allowed to look through the dresses. At pronovias you can't even touch the dresses! You stay locked in your fitting room! And we were asked to wipe our hands with wipes. This is obviously a couture place as they care for their merchandise so much to keep them clean for brides that might have to purchase off the samples. When our stylist was ready for us, we were shown to the most amazing fitting room. I couldn't belive that this entire room was for her. There were so many mirrors! We tried only a couple since my friend wants theat Cinderella look and they were all similar. When our appointment was over we were given a card and my friend said she'd come back next week to purchase. And I can honeslty say that she wasn't pushed, pressured or looked at for not purchasing on the frist appointment. The sales person was jst as nice as if she was gonna buy. So ladies, check out this lovely boutique and get personal service that makes you feel like the only bride in the store :) Pros: Intimate Ambiance, warm staff, great prices, gorgeous gowns Cons: none :) more

Worst Service Ever! Worst Wedding Vendor! 7/22/2008

I would not recommend this place to anybody!!! The service was terrible, and caused me enormous amounts of stress, because I thought the dress would never fit, and I had to make several unplanned trips from Washington DC to NY for the sole purpose of getting the dress altered. \r \r Long story short, the seamstress Vivian was abrupt, and had no patience with customers. During my alterations process, my salesperson, Mona, and VIvian were fired, and I was never informed until I showed up for a fitting, where my dress wasn't even at the salon. I had traveled from DC to NY expressly for this appointment and was told that they didn't realize I was the one who was coming, and my dress had been sent to the cleaner. My final appointment was 3 days before my wedding (when I was supposed to be picking up the final finished dress) (also note: I purchased the dress 16 months in advance, and had made already made 5 separate visits to the salon), and instead I had to wait 2 - 2 1/2 hours for the seamstress to make additional alterations. For my last 2 visits, Carrie, the owner, who assured me that the dress would be fitted and done in time, was no where to be found. \r \r Overall I was extremely disappointed with their lack of service and lack of responsibility for all the problems they caused. Instead of 2-3 fitting appointments, I made 5-6 trips from DC to NY for the express purpose of getting my dress altered. In the end, the dress did fit, but there were still minor wrinkles and puckering that we couldn't get rid of. For the amount of money we spent on the dress, alterations, and veil, we expected much better service. Cons: Terrible Service. Caused unnecessary stress. Unreliable more

Great Service + Beautiful gown collections = A great wedding gown shop! 6/25/2008

I do all my searches on citysearch all the time for restaurants, events and everything else. In fact, I found Wedding Ateliers from citysearch!! I went to a few places in the city with my friends, Priscilla of Boston, Kleinfelds, and Bridal Reflections before we came to Wedding Atelier and the experience I had at Wedding Atelier was great!! I worked with Carrie, the owner of the store and Xiulian, the seamstress after I found out the sales lady I worked with previously has left when I went back to the store for my first fitting. I cannot tell you how great and helpful both Carrie and Xiulian were. The dress I bought requires a lot of work since it has six layers of laces?and Carrie really took her time to go through all the detailed alternation works with Xiulian to make sure the dress would fit me perfectly. When I told them that I would like to try the dress on again to make sure it really fits when I came in to pick up my dress, they had no problem of letting me try it on even though the dress was already wrapped and packed nicely in a garment bag. They even offered to take the dress back and do some finishing touch for the back of my dress after I pointed out to them that the back part of the laces were sticking out a bit too much. When I realized that the color of the veil I bought from somewhere else didn't match my dress during my final fitting, Carrie offered to make a brand new veil by using the same laces that my dress has for me and Xiulain was able to finish it in less a week (Normally it takes 3-4 weeks to order a customize veil). Overall, the experience I had at Wedding Atelier was amazing and the service was more than what I could ask for!!! I can't wait to wear the gown on my wedding day!! Thanks Carrie and Xiulian for making my gown shopping just a wonderful experience. I would highly recommend everyone go to Wedding Atelier for their gown shopping. Pros: Ambiance, Great Service, Beautiful gown collections!!! Cons: None! more

BECAUSE OF DEBRA this gets 5 stars..... A BRIDES DREAM TO WORK WITH 6/23/2008

i am only giving this place 5 starts because of Debra who helped me. It was friday night that i made an appointment and wanted to come in Saturday the next morning because they were having a sample sale. The dress i've always wanted happened to be 40% off. I was going bananas trying to get in this place. well, it was definately a challenge because no one answered the phone, you would get a machine or someone was too busy to help you and you would get scolded because I didnt book a week in advance. Finally a wonderful woman named Debra, who has the most pleasant voice, called me and told me afternoon appointment canceled and wanted to know if I would like to come by. I rushed over there and she was AMAZING. I'm from California and i didnt have my mom or my friends to be there with me and she made me feel comfortable and told me she was her friend for the day. She's soooo super sweet. Unfortunately the dress i wanted, sold out but she listened to what kind of style I wanted and the first dress that she happened to pull out, was the first dress i tried on and walked out with. She's not pushy or horrible to get a sale, she's reallly sweet, understanding and SHE'S ALSO GETTING MARRIED HERSELF so she UNDERSTANDS what a bride has to go through. She was absolutely a dream to work with and i couldnt have asked for a better experience in getting my wedding gown. DEBRA ROCKS!!!!! more
