I had nothing but problems from day 1..sure the scenery is beautiful.. yes, they have a dog walk park (which is an extra cost). I adopted a dog who I was told was 6 years old and perfectly healthy. my ver said she was 12, partially blind and needed major dental surgery (which after I begged they finally did). 3 days after she came home, she started biting in the face. I returned her..she was put down. I was then informed that she had already been returned once for biting a child in the face.. I wasn't told that. I found another dog I wanted to adopt. The director said ok.I went up there every day for 6 weeks and the staff told me "the director said u had to meet with her before we could let u have him".I called daily several times daily. My calls were never returned. I saw her in the building she walked by me like I wasn't there. Finally 6 weeks later, she called me and told me that the staff and she thinks that I intentionally drove my 1st dog to bite me just so I could have him put d more

This animal shelter is set in a wonderful "campus" area in Grandview. If you haven't been to a shelter in a while, this is sooo not what you remember. The animals have yards, and play areas, are allowed to socialize, and don't look miserable. We adopted a precious kitten from there about a year and a half ago and were very pleased with the process. They offer an excellent value for their services. Please support this shelter. It is very worthwhile. more

Wayside Waifs has a wonderful facility, but they are forced to put a large number of abandoned animals to sleep, and this can cause their staff to be understandable pushy in trying to get people to adopt animals to prevent their deaths. They are also very slow in returning calls and emails. Their efforts should be supported, just be aware of a potential guilt trip before visiting. more
