This historic Inn has changed owners. Unfortunately, the food is extremely over-priced and mediocre at best. The wait staff is unprofessional and the management rude. It is definitely no longer a fine dinning experience. Stay away unless you wish to pay an exorbitant price for unappetizing food. more

stay away! 12/31/2010

We wasted a whole lot of money and time at the Wayside Inn on lunch buffet. Food was poor and service was worse. Staff was rude and argued with me when I complained about value. Do not waste your money here. Since the new owners took over last year, everything has gone down except for the price-- that went way up. more

Historic Inn with Great Food 4/15/2006

The Wayside Inn is purported to be the longest continuously running inn in the US, having been in business since 1797. Though the Wayside Inn has lodging, we stopped there to eat. I enjoyed one of the best crabcakes I have ever had. THE best thing we had here, though, was the peanut soup...oh my, is it good, warm and comforting. This is definitely going out of your way. more

Wonderful inn 8/16/2005

This place still treats you like the visiting aristocrat in antebellum Virginia. Everything in the room is a real antique, and if you look hard enough, everything in your room has a price tag. If you want one of the pieces of furniture in your room bad enough, well, you can buy it. The hotel has a restaurant attached that serves some of the best food in the area, so far as traditional southern cooking goes. Also, right down the street is the Wayside theatre, which is good for affordable shows. The place has been around a couple centuries, and looks to remain for the next couple. more
