Watkins Grill represents a flare of the warm and friendly atmosphere that existed only in the past, being established in 1947. When I enter there, folks know each other, laughing and sharing humor. The walls hold interesting memorabilia of the Southern Civil War history. It's kind similar to sitting in a museum and gazing at the walls.
The food is served quickly, and nothing can hold a candle to the delicious menus of old time cooking, including lunch plates with a variety of meats and veggies Mouth watering hamburgers, bearing the names of Civil War officers and such. And of course there is desserts. You can have breakfast all day, and take out also. Family run and family oriented, I would bring any friends there proudly. And, being from Durham, I do return sometimes monthly, anticipating the joy, like a child getting candy.
