Seattle/Bainbridge Ferry 12/14/2008

This is a beautiful brief commute, I'm very happy to have gotten to do it while I was living on the island before I moved to the city. The Bainbridge ferry is always really clean and if there's a mess or dangerous area due to the rain the employees are very fast to close it off or put a sign up. Some of the tellers on the Seattle side have been very rude to me on a few occasions. I've missed the ferry because they were ignoring me and having a loud conversation with one another inside the booth. It's a shame people like that have customer service jobs, but I'm still going to ride the boat every chance I get, Bainbridge is amazing. more

This is the only way to see the stunning San Juans as well as travel to Victoria on Vancover Island. Whether you are crossing west bound to the island or east bound back to Seattle (on a clear day Mt. Rainer is awsome), the price of the ticket is more than worth it. more

Passenger fares are generally round trip with the exception of the Port Townsend

Owner Message
  • Passenger fares are generally round trip with the exception of the Port Townsend/Coupeville route and all International sailings to Sidney, British Columbia. We offer seniors (65+), persons with disabilities and passengers with a Medicare card, or other eligibility verification, travel at half the regular passenger fare rate. We offer special rates for youth 6-18 years of age. Children, 0-5 travel free. * Ferry Schedules* Ferry Passenger Fares* Ferry Vehicle Fares ORCA E-purse may be used at WSF locations, except Sidney, to pay for single passenger fares only. ORCA is currently not a valid payment method for driver or vehicle fares. WSF Monthly Passenger passes can be loaded onto your ORCA card and have unlimited usage for the calendar month. Use your ORCA card at the tollbooth or turnstile, or on the handheld reader, prior to boarding the ferry to pay for your passenger fare. If your card is loaded with an E-purse the passenger fare will be deducted from your card. If you have a WSF Monthly Passenger pass, valid for the ferry service, the reader will recognize your pass as valid fare payment for the designated calendar month. WSF Monthly passes may be loaded on adult ORCA cards only. Due to youth and senior passengers already receiving a discounted fare, the WSF Monthly Pass may not be loaded. Youths/Seniors that would like to purchase a WSF Monthly Pass must do so on an adult ORCA card or purchase a separate Wave2Go product. Our vehicle fares are based on a vehicle’s length, height, and width, as well as the distance you will be traveling on board our ferry. For Example: The fare for a car towing a boat or trailer is based on the length of the car and the trailer or boat combined. Vehicles with bikes stowed on the roof will be charged an overheight surcharge. Most vehicle fares are one-way with the exception of the San Juan Islands and Vashon Island routes, which are round trip fares. Vehicle Size Category ChangesA new vehicle size fare category is now available for cars less than 14 feet. This new fare category intends to encourage small car use to maximize the use of ferry deck space. This fare change will be phased in over three years, starting with the fare set at 90 percent of the standard vehicle fare on October 1, 2011, and then set at 80 percent of the standard vehicle fare on May 1, 2012, and finally set at 70 percent of the standard vehicle fare in 2013 (phase three subject to future Commission approval). A new category has been established for smaller vehicles under 14 feet (168 inches) in length. Please check your owners manual before purchasing the small car fare. Also, the standard vehicle size is redefined as 14 to under 22 feet changing the current maximum length for a standard vehicle which was previously under 20 feet.Capital SurchargeEffective Oct. 1, 2011 fares include a systemwide surcharge of 25 cents per fare. The surcharge is required by law and is dedicated to funding WSF vessel replacement. The 25 cent surcharge is assessed on every ticket issued, whether a one-way or roundtrip fare. Multi-ride and monthly passes reflect the total per-ticket price.Peak Season Surcharge During the ferry system’s busiest months, a Peak Season surcharge is in effect for vehicles and drivers paying full fare, except for customers utilizing the frequent user multi-ride cards. The peak season is in effect from May 1 through September 30.
