Brookline Hot Spot 1/13/2006

The Washington Square Tavern has a friendly, homey feel of a neighborhood bar. Locals frequent this place for their excellent soulfully inspired menu. Unlike other area hotspots that are overrun with college kids or pick-up artists, this is an excellent place to go if you want to kick back and relax with a beer. Located convieniently on the Green line, there is no need to drive to this location. Which is a good thing since there is no overnight parking in Brookline and you wouldn't want to get towed if you tipped one too many. more

Your Friendly Neighborhood Bar 8/29/2005

The Washington Square Tavern is a great place to go for a casual beer or a great dinner. The bar area is usually packed and there are few tables so be prepared to stand. The beer selection is very extensive. The food is very good. I would describe it as gourmet comfort food. more

wonderful neighborhood joint 3/14/2005

A nice place to go. Great selection of both beers and wines, and an excellent menu. A real mix of a crowd: it's loud and packed, but you can fit right in whether you're 21 or 41, part of a couple or single. It's always jammed, so plan on hanging out at the bar (really not much of a separation between the bar and the rest of the place) and then sliding it to a table after a wait. For dessert, there is a great upscale bakery (Athan's) across the street. more
