I just opened a checking account, savings account and a cd with Washington Mutual. I was drawn to their office because they are open on Saturday mornings and late every night until 6pm. I work from 6:30-4:30 so its sometimes hard to go into a bank. The personnel met me at the door and directed me to the person who opens accounts, there was no waiting. All I needed was two forms of identification and off we go. I needed to put the cd into my trust so that took a few minutes longer. If you keep $300.00 in the checking account its free but if you have what they call an Automatic Save, thats where they automatically transfer once a month from your checking to your savings, all is free. You only have to transfer a very small amount. Checks are free for life, they have some designer checks that are free also. I was very impressed with the knowledge of the customer service rep. He was helpful without being pushy. I am thinking of opening an equity creditline with them. If you take out over $20,000.00 they pay the closing costs. I got a great rate 5.35 on the cd. Will re-review again after I have been doing business with them for a few weeks.
