Washington County Free Library

I think this is by far one of the best librarys around.I never have a problem finding a book im looking for and the library is kept really clean.Sometimes i go in to just read a paper or look at a magazine.The librarians are great at helping me with anything i need and they also offer high speed internet access for those without a computer.They allow you a hour per day computer use.They also have plenty of free parking and they are convienantly located downtown Hagerstown. more

My children prefer this library over all others .Its very clean and quiet so if you need to study theres no interuptions.Plenty of parking.Friendly and Knowlodgable staff.They have a wide variety of books,magazines,newspaers and even video movies available to all.They also offer high speed internet for everyones usage .This is by far one of the nicest librarys ive ever been too. more

The Washington County Free Library is a wonderful, full service library located conveniently in downtown Hagerstown. The first bookmobile in the United States got it's start here and it continues to run today. The library offers a fabulous children's section, a special teen loft, a tremendous collection of videos and dvds and several computers with internet access in addition to the very large collection of books, magazines and other multimedia materials. A few days per week the Western Maryland room is available for research of the history of the area or family geneology. The staff is very friendly and helpful. A website exists which allows for reserving and renewing books right from home. The library is also linked to other libraries across the state so if this location does not have a specific book it can be ordered from another library elsewhere. They have long hours on weekdays and are also open on weekends for limited hours. There is ample parking right outside the library. more
