Warrior & Scholar Kenpo Karate

This is an exceptional karate school. I moved to Florida from NH about 2 years ago. I had trained for 7 years in another excellent Kenpo karate school where I attained the rank of 2nd degree black belt and was an instructor. It took me a year to find a school that was comparable to the one in NH. Alicia Martorelli has over 20 years experience in martial arts which is evident when she instructs the class. She is excellent with children's and adult classes. As an adult, I want to continue to learn the martial arts and I want a decent work-out. I'm never disappointed. I highly recommend this school! First off i would like to state that contrary to the other reviews of this school the instructors are certified and to them Kenpo is not a side business, it is their life. I have seen children enter this school as shy as can be and after just a few classes they begin to show signs of leadership and responsibility. This school teaches children respect, responsibility, courteousness, and most importantly skills that can be used for self protection or the protection of others. Warrior and Scholars is one of the most affordable martial arts school in the area and the price does not compare to the lessons that are taught to the students. AS for the claims of a dirty floor and bathroom come in and see for yourself the bathroom is quite clean and the floors are padded and thanks to the devoted staff of Warrior and Scholar the school remains clean. We are so glad we brought our children to Warrior & Scholar Kenpo Karate located on Taft Street east of University Dr. in Hollywood. Our children have been praticing karate, improving their fitness, and having fun at Warrior & Scholar for a full two years. Many parents have been bringing their children much longer than that.. Chief Instructor and Owner Alicia Martorelli and her assistants teach from a positive prospective and emphasize what the person is doing right and praising their positives. This gives kids higher self esteem. THe instructors realize that the parents and students are seeking a positive experience. Warrior & Scholar provides that. THey accommodate children's needs yet provide a demanding experience. The school is clean, safe, and well lit. THe instructors are focused and prepared. I believe that several of the other reviews must have mistakenly confused Warrior & Scholar with some other karate school in the area or that maybe some of the other reviews were written by people who are running their own karate school and are jealous of Warrior & Scholar's success!. Warrior & Scholar just celebrated their 9th Anniversary on Taft Street! They offer a free introductory lesson, a great deal on the first month with a free uniform, no yearly contracts, and a great environment. THis year they offered parents the month of August Free! Parents can take lessons with their children. Children are carefully supervised with a low student to instructor ratio (5 to 1 or less). There are usually at least two instructors working each class. This Karate school is a great tool for young kids & adults to learn self defense & discipline. It's obvious by the other comments shown you know nothing about the instructors or the school. Stop by most nights to see the amount of support this school really has. There are many other Karate schools out there, but do you really learn Karate at them. The kids & adults that come here are motivated, dedicated to the instructor and school. About the floors...they have soft padding to work out on. The bathroom is also clean. Come see for yourself. I said it before and I'll say it again, great Instructors and the school is looking better than ever! Very clean, very roomy and classes are packed with students with plenty of room to work-out. Great new padded floor matts! Congrats on the new look! Pros: Great Instructors and roomy workout area. Great for children! more
