Although I've had three very positive experiences with Warren Appliance over the last 5 years, my last purchase was a horrible experience and very costly to me.
I've lost over $800 on a used Crosley washer and dryer that I bought from Warren Appliance in May, 2011.
They delivered the set to Allenspark and the washing machine latch was broken on delivery. They carried the unit back to Longmont, fixed it and delivered it again (at no cost to me).
The washer worked well for two loads, but then it collected water in the drum when it was not in use. We did the steps they recommended and nothing worked. So a rep from Warren Appliance came out, picked up the machine, took it back to the store, fixed it and brought it back to my home. They wanted to charge me over $300 for this service, but since the appliance had not worked properly from its first installation, i held the store responsible for the cost.
After this second transport back to the store, the latch broke again. We went to Longmont, bought the part and replaced it. After a few uses, the latch broke again. We ordered the latch by phone and installed it. The latch broke again.
I offered to buy a brand new unit from Warren Appliance for $1500 if they would give me credit for the original $800 set. Because they warned me that the new set would have the same latch as my first set, I stipulated that the deal would be done based on my approval of the new unit.
They agreed at first, but changed their minds. Instead, they offered to pick up the machines and return my money. I agreed to this. I still trusted the integrity of their word and purchased a new set from Lowes. (which incidentally has worked perfectly from the first minute it was installed.
My mistake is that once they got ahold of the washer/dryer set, they said they would only pay me $500 for the exchange price. They claimed that we damaged a good machine. They even sent a lawyer written letter that says that if I sign it, I give up rights to the rest of the money.
To get this misery over, I offered to split the difference. Instead of them keeping $300 of my dollars, they would keep $150. They refused.
So now here is where we stand: I paid Warren Appliance $800 + for a washer and dryer that never worked. In the month I had it, it was broken over 50% of the time and cost us a lot of inconvenience. They have not returned my money and I have paid another $1600 to Lowes for a new set. I am out $2400 and Warren Appliance not only has my original $800 but they have the old set in their possesion to sell it again for another $800.
