I have been going to Walt's Diner or as the regulars call it, 'The coffee shop' for years. Being the only 20-something girl at the time was not intimidating but absolutely wonderful because the 'regulars' are the older men and women, just like your favorite grandparent, aunt or trusty neighbor. Other regulars are the people that grew up going with their parents to eat and now take their children to experience the traditional diner. Walt is getting older and his wife is sometimes ill so I have gotten in the habit of calling before taking the walk or drive there. His son Jr. has been a tremendous help in running the place, along with his fiancée Linda.
The food is reason enough to go with the simple yet delicious fare of breakfast, sandwiches and burgers. They do something to the pancakes that make them irresistible and the Omelets…just wow. The prices you just cannot beat. However, go for the charm, for the warmth and for that wonderful feeling of being where you are welcome and everything is ok.
