An upscale general store surprising in its' upscale merchandise 11/7/2005

Great variety of children's toys and games, the best greeting cards, decorative accessories, unique kitchen items: this store truly has it all. It is one of Kamuela's best sources for thoughtful gifts. They carry knitting supplies and local books, Crabtree and Evelyn scented products as well as local crafts. The range of goods here definitely earns the "general store" designation. It provides a phenomenal selection of goods in a charming "plantation style" building, and their holiday decorations are the best. more

Nice Place to Buy Gifts 9/10/2005

This is a great store to buy gifts for family and friends that live on the mainland. They sell Hawaiian items and local products such as coffees and teas, pillows with palm trees, etc. This store is conveniently located near Waimea town and the prices are reasonable. more

Located in the heart of Parker Ranch, WAIMEA GENERAL STORE, founded in 1970 and family run, is one of Hawaii's truly unique island stores....a favorite of locals and visitors alike. We are in a small town known as both Kamuela and Waimea....approx. 2500 foot elevation ( can be VERY cool at times )....nestled between the Kohala Mountains and Mauna Kea with fantastic views of both Mauna Loa and Hualalai. We are less than a half hour drive from the famous Mauna Kea Beach Hotel, Mauna Lani Resort, Hapuna Beach Prince Hotel and The Royal Waikoloan, and approx. 1 hour from both Hilo and Kailua-Kona. If you can make it to the Big Island of Hawaii....the Parker Ranch, WAIMEA GENERAL STORE, and the several other fine shops at Parker Square should definitely be on your list of spots to visit for Hawaii shopping.
