Best

Get the elvis burger and the sweet potato fries- you will NOT regret it. Love the decor, the personality. It was all I had hoped for and now places in my top 5 favorite restaurant...

Worst

All I have heard is Vortex, Vortex for best hamburgers in Atlanta. When I hear that I always take it with a grain of salt considering who is heaping on the accolades. I was prett...

Best burger with an attitude... 10/3/2002

This place kicks a**. Not only is it one of the cheaper places to eat - it is by far the best burger/bar in the midtown area. The servers are just plain cool (don't act like an idiot and the service is incredible, select people above), the atmosphere is intense, and the food is kickin' (try the tater-tots). This is just an all-around great place to go to hang out with a group of friends (wouldn't advise families with little kids though). And honestly - everything here beats the one in Little Five by a quarter mile at least.... You gotta try it... Pros: Incredible atmosphere, Fun environment, Great food Cons: parking blows..sorry! more

Consistent 9/24/2002

Vortex secret that I almost don't want to share-- cheapest 20yr port selection in town. About the price of a Guinness pint... Yeehaw! What is special about the food? Consistency. (what Midtown restaurants lack). Even if it is just pretty good it is consistently pretty good. Good for sandwiches, burgers and chili. My new spot for pretty good food and 20yr port! Pros: Cheap Port, Decent Food, Consistent Cons: Needs Hooters girls, for servers more

Fast Fun and Cheap 8/1/2002

Cool venue... lots to look at! The attitude is badass and the food, especially the burgers, is excellent. One of the best places in town to get a burger in fact. I would definitely recommend! Pros: Burgers Cons: Parking more

restaurant was empty and my husband & I wanted to sit by window. we sat at a 6-top. waitress came over and said ""the reason we have a sign that says seat yourself is because we assume that our patrons have enough intelligence to know not to take up a 6-top! Needless to say, we left. Pros: pretty good burgers Cons: nasty attitude, rude servers, dirty ashtray smell more

Good Food Great Decor! 6/28/2002

This is a great place to get a decent meal, a good drink and to hang with your friends. The decor is ultra-cool. From an actual motorcycle hanging from the ceiling to old nude photos to old gas pumps to bomb shells, the Vortex oozes Americana. Definately a place ot check out whether living in or visiting Atlanta. more

Oh the selection.. 6/26/2002

I almost can't choose. If you want the best burger, this is where you need to go. My only negative comment is that the service was a little slow. It wasn't from the wait staff, it was from the kitchen. Our table of six took over an hour. Luckily I'm in sales and nobody noticed. They really need to work on that. The food was worth the wait. more

burgers are better here 6/12/2002

Rarely do I indulge in hamburgers!! But when I do I head to the nearest Vortex. Interesting gothic atmosphere don't know why or where or who came up with the idea/gothic theme but it seems to work. more

Right just about anytime 6/9/2002

The Midtown Vortex can't compete with the local character of its Little Five Points relation, but it can compete with its equally good food and service. I've often escaped the heat of Peachtree Street in this dark-paneled oasis of burgers, beer and crazy signage. Though the fries are good, try the fried zucchini or the tater tots, they're better. Oh, and the wait staff at the Midtown Vortex is sooo much nicer than at the L5Ps one. more

good food 5/21/2002

This place is great. There are plenty of tasty options for those people that don't eat red meat and even more for those that do. more

Better Than Little 5? 5/12/2002

I know it's heresy, but I actually prefer this location to the one in Little Five Points. The decor is fun and interesting and the bar-food menu is top notch --especially the burgers. The staff is friendly and inviting, and the waitresses are extremely attractive and serve strong, stiff drinks. The dining room is fine, although it's not as fun as sitting at the bar. The place can turn into a zoo when the theater next door lets out, and parking is difficult to nonexistent. Still, this is one of my absolute favorite places in Atlanta. Pros: Great atmosphere Cons: Parking more

  • In Short
Sibling to the L5P location, the Midtown eatery attracts college crowds and boisterous groups with its retro ads, quirky knickknacks and laidback vibe. Burgers are the big draw:...
