Bob at Vista Transmission is about the only honest person I can find in the auto repair business. Everyone else just seems to want to sell me as much as they can. I saw an ad for Vista Transmission in a small newspaper and knew that I was due for a transmission service, so I decided to try them.
I took the car to several other people, and they all told me I needed a complete flush and new filter, about $200. Bob at Vista told me that my car doesn't have a replaceable filter, so a flush would be bad for it. He said the best that we could do would be to replace the fluids, and that would be $50. I have never encountered someone who would speak the truth for a smaller check.
I then found out that he works on cars in general, so I started to feed a little bit of work to him. I was very happy with the prices he gave me. He also really works with me. I needed a new alternator, and Bob quoted me a price for a part. I found a refurbished part on the internet for much cheaper, and he was more than happy to round up that part and put it in the car.
He is so busy that I can't always get as much work done as I would like to have. It is hard to take him more than one problem at once because his schedule is so tight. It has a very family feel, which is nice after so many places are just trying to hustle me.
I am a person who likes to stay on top of my repairs. My car has 170,000 miles, and I drive it all over because I am in sales. I often think about what will most likely need to be done next and ask Bob to look at it. When I thought I needed new rear brakes he looked at them and told me I had 6 more months. I was able to plan ahead to get it done. It is so different from anywhere else that just tries to take your money; Bob knows what he is doing.
