Miholers, I read your review, and I don't think they did anything wrong. The only thing wrong is your baseless claim. Do you have any evidence that they didn't do a professional job on your taxes? Did you have then checked? If so then present your facts rather than just wondering that were done right. That's just character assignation. If I were them, I would sue you for slandering their business with no evidence. Further, you know good and well, they should not mix their political beliefs with the business by saying something to you. If they did, you would have been the first to sue them. And I would be right behind you. By all means take your business elsewhere, don't give them your money. Your claims that they are unethical are unfounded. I've had my taxes done there three years, and find the staff to be completely professional and am happy with the returns they provide for me. more

Kathy and the whole staff at VIP are excellent. They actually sit down and talk with you to figure out what you are doing rather than just telling you what to do without even knowing your situation, such a breath of fresh air. I had to go through (get ignored by) three other accountants to finally find them, thank goodness i did. I came from one of the most expensive and well know accountants on the island because I simply got no service and was tired of them not listening to me or giving me any straight answers about anything. As a business owner you need a game plan and VIP definitely gives you answers and helps you through the process. more

I believe this tax company has acted unethically. The owner, Kathy Mannola did our taxes last year and financial planning. We own a gay wedding company and are a gay couple. Kathy knew this obviously, but she did not tell us she was leading the fight on Maui to prevent gays and lesbians from having equal rights. We learned of her stance from her own words printed in the Maui News. ... According to the paper she believes that the ultimate decision ""should be put to a vote of the people,"" and that the ballot language should be ""clear and simple."" Mannola said she also lobbied in favor of a veto of the civil unions bill. ""I was very pleased with the way the governor handled the decision,"" she said regarding the governors veto. ""I believe she has a great sense of personal satisfaction and really and truly feels good about it."" Kathy should have told us she believes we are not equal and don't deserve equal rights. She should have told us she was homophobic and wants us to remain second class citizens. We were also in the Maui News having been interviewed about our struggle for equal rights here on Maui. We trusted her. We now wonder if our taxes were even done right. She should have turned us down as clients explaining her views and her public stance on the issue that she knew we were advocating. I am so disgusted with VIP tax service on Maui. I hope anyone who believes in ethical behavior and/or believes gays should have equal rights should let VIP Tax Service know their opinion. Have made significant payroll errors against employees. ""Something fishy and will not correct the errors they ""claim quickbooks made"". Hows that for accounting and tax services. My check was shorted by them and when called to confront them got yelled at hung up on and my money is still GONE! The owner Cathy claims to people"" I am a Christian woman"" it was my computer so fix it and give me my money! Dont let them do you books if QBooks is their O/S and is making errors they wont fix so much for you up against the IRS with this lot. My suggestion get s substantiated PRO on the Island like Heartland Payroll Systems! The only got one star from me cause I cant leave negative stars for them!
