A+ Daycare!!!!! 9/30/2008

It is so true when people say ""You get what you pay for!!!"" Honestly speaking VIP is a little more costly than other daycares in the area but you will definitely get your money worth. My son attended VIP Day Care II from the age of 2 until he graduated to attend Kindergarten. Both my son and I enjoyed every minute that he spent at school. The teachers paid close attention to his growth both socially and academically. The staff at VIP played a major role in my son being accepted to the gifted program in Kindergarten. I was so pleased with the staff at VIP Daycare that my daughter now attends and loves it. Her teacher recognized her learning potential and gives her individual attention so that she will be able to excel. I will strongly recommend VIP daycare to anyone who wishes to invest in their child's future. Thank you VIP for setting a strong foundation for my kids!!! Pros: Caring teachers and office staff Cons: Parking more

GREAT DAYCARE! 9/30/2008

\r I had the great pleasure of sending my son to VIP 2, after having had a horrible experience at a Head Start program it is worth the money!!!! My son went from hating school, to LOVING IT!!!! The teacher and staff always provided me with feedback as to his day, as we worked together in helping him learn classroom rules. Weather he had a good day or a bad one they were always honest. I know that parent?s may NOT always want to hear when there 3 or 4 year old ?does not behave?, but the bottom line is if you don?t know how your child behaves when he is not with you, how can you help them do better? He was always encouraged to learn and was given individual attention when his teacher saw his potential in excelling. Nevertheless, my son left VIP 2, reading fluently, he was skipped once he got to kindergarten and is now 6 yrs old and in the 2nd grade. THANKS YOU VIP 2!!!!!! My daughter will be there soon?.. Pros: Encourages socialization, and very nurturing enviorment. Cons: Parking more

Could Be Better - Especially since the daycare is not free! 7/15/2008

My son didn't last for a full two weeks. He is only two and the staff told me that they hold up to 14 kids in his age group with one certified teacher and one assistant. After I enrolled him, his group size was up to 18. Then one day, I go to pick him up and I see that he is in a different group now - with 21 kids!! The daycare definitely overbooked-it seems as all the director wants is the money. They are short staffed and the staff members are young. I have heard the director yelling at the kids, when I was on the phone. They don't have an open door policy. When I picked up my child, I asked if I could peek into his classroom-they always said no-the parents had to stand in the hallway, while the teacher got your child ready. In the two weeks that he was there - EVERYDAY, they would give him to me with crust all over his nose. One time, the crust was all over his face and lips and a piece of booger and there also were brownie crumbs on his face from snack time at 3 p.m. and I picked him up at 5 p.m.My son got sick from the center-he got a contagious viral infection called Coxsackie virus with spreads from one child to the next. Based on my online review, it spreads from feces on unsanitized changing tables and unwashed hands.I think some child had it and my son got the germs from the sharing of toys or from the changing table or perhaps the staff member did not clean her hands. I had to keep him home for a week, while paying the week's tuition. I informed the director of the viurus-she was rude about it. She didn't care about what happened. It seemd if I was annoying her by caling her. I understand that I cannot prove that the virus was from the daycare, but my son is the only child in my entire family and this virus came from another child and this virus is known to spread in daycares. So, I did not take him back the following week and because I did not give them a ""5 day notice"" - they were trying to make me pay them another week's tuition, which I refused to give. Pros: Teaching songs and alphabets and arts and crafts, etc. Cons: Too many kids in one group, not enough attention on each child. more

Not Recommended - Very Poor Daycare Service - DO NOT SEND YOUR CHILD HERE! 4/18/2008

My child didn?t last very long in this place. When I first looked into this daycare I came to this site and read the mixed reviews and figured I would see for myself. I went to visit the center I got a luke warm tour not friendly at all. (Funny another reviewer made the same comment) but I figured I'd give it a shot it's at a good location and the daily curriculum seemed pretty good. Everything started out nice then went downhill. Don't get me wrong all the activities they do are really nice and my child can sing his ABCs but Wow I must say all the negative reviews were very true! I was very disappointed in the lack on communication between staff members and the assistant director. One day I was called at work and told that my child bumped his head - then when I spoke to the teacher I was told by her that he didn?t bump his head, hello? You?re his so called teacher and you don't know what happened to my child? They told me that my child is good but complained that he is very active and he likes to run around (he's 2!) - but said they understood that at that age they are highly active and they will work with him. A week later they showed me a video of how he acts -from what I saw the staff paid no attention to him , let him run around and then put him in a corner far away from the other kids with nothing to do. I asked the asst. director why did they put him in a corner, is that the time out area? she said no but they should have had him sit with the other kids -I will find out why they did that and tells me she only goes by what?s on the tape and not what?s she's told what kind of procedure is that? I've spoken to REAL TEACHERS with DEGREES and they have told me that is not the way to handle children. Majority of the staff members are unfriendly and some of them act like they don't care I even caught one of them yelling at my child because he got up from his seat when he saw me coming to pick him up! I'd think twice about sending your child here Pros: Daily activities are ok Cons: Poor Communication, No Parking, Staff more

My CHild and I are Happy?????? 3/10/2008

Of course you would be happy if you personally know the director and are friends with them. But what about the rest of us? I do not need my child to be drilled abc's and 123's at age two or three. I have a masters degree in early childhood education and know what the curriculum should be. VIP does not provide the proper curriculum. I was disappointed time and again to see the young girls in charge of my child's emotional and physical well being. They are so young and inexperienced. The constant screaming was giving my kids nightmares. We have raised our children to behave properly and to be respectful. We have reached these behaviors without screaming at them or spanking them...and to ahve them submitted to that type of behavior by people tht I am entrusting to care for my children is unbelievable. I too as one of the past employees know that the day care is breaking the law by not having the proper staff. \r Don't put your child here the young staff is so inexperienced and not properly trained...actually when I asked three of the girls what their qualifications were they told me none and noe had even attended college...ever!!!!!!!!\r Do your research and find a small day care that has a director that is not to busy to speak to you and to listen to your concerns!!!!!!! Pros: Can't think of one..not even the price the smaller day cares are cheaper and they truly care for your child Cons: Hate the center as soes the rest of richmond hill, and woodhaven more

delt with them 1/18/2008

im an old parent of vip. and i agree they do not know how to talk to people or handle children. my daughter was kicked out because of her behavior. instead of them challenging her more they just couldn,t be so bothered. i even had teachers wispering to me take your child else where this place looks good but it very distasteful.\r \r Pros: looks good Cons: parking and late fees more

MY CHILD AND I ARE VERY HAPPY 9/29/2007

I WENT ON THIS SITE BASED ON CURIOSITY, AND I WAS SHOCKED. IT IS TRUE THAT YOU CAN NOT BELIEVE EVERYTHING YOU READ AND HEAR, I BET THE PERSONS NOT RECOMENDING THIS CENTER ARE UNHAPPY BECAUSE THEY ARE NEUROTIC INDIVIDUALS WHO WERE ASKED TO REMOVE THEIR CHILDREN FOR VALID REASONS WHICH THEY AS PARENTS REFUSE TO ACCEPT.\r I KNOW THE DIRECTOR PERSONALY FOR 6 YEARS AND MY CHILD ATTENDS HER CENTER FOR THE PAST 4 MONTHS, YES THE LADY IS CUT AND DRY, BUT DOES ANYONE KNOW WHAT IT TAKES TO DEAL WITH PARENTS SUCH AS THE ONES WRITTING THESE NOTES. VIP IS A PRIVATE DAYCARE CENTER, REASONABLY PRICED FOR THE NEIGHBORHOOD AND VERY MUCH IN TOUCH WITH THE REALITY OF HELPING US RAISE OUR KIDS. I CONSIDER IT A PRIVILAGE TO HAVE MY DAUGHTER ATTEND THIS SCHOOL. YOU GO VIP...HOLD YOU HEAD UP HIGH....\r WHEN MY CHILD COMES HOME RECOGNIZING LETTRS AND SHAPES THAT I KNOW, WERE NOT A PART OF HER EVERYDAY LIFE, WHEN SHE DOES HER DANCES AND SINGS HER NEW SONGS, WHEN SHE TELLS ME ""NO MOMMY, PACIFIERS ARE FOR BABIES, THROW IT OUT"" AND LAST WEEK WHEN SHE USED THE POTTY FOR THE FIRST TIME I KNEW FOR SURE I DID NOT HAVE MUCH TO DO WITH ALL THAT. SHE WANTS ME TO DRIVE HER BY THE SCHOOL ON SAT & SUN TO BELIEVE IT IS CLOSED AND ON MOST MORNINGS SHE WAKES ME UP TO GET HER READY. BUT BEST OF ALL SHE LOVES HER TEACHERS AND HAS 3 NEW BEST FRIENDS. MY DAUGHTER IS HAPPY AND LUCKY AND SO AM I. Pros: PRIVATE CENTER, GOOD PEOPLE Cons: NO PARKING FACILITY more

I worked Here! 9/20/2007

I have to admit from what I heard and seen yes the children here are taught to read and write at a level higher than the average. Which is fantastic because the child will be advanced when they begin a ""real structured environment"" like Kindergarten or First grade. That is a pro. \r \r a Con is that as I worked here as a teachers assistant. The classroom I worked for they had the assistants run the classroom with no licensed Teacher!!! and all I have is a GED! some classes may have had a teacher but if one class didn't have a teacher they still open the classroom anyway. That is against the law. Teacher assistants are not qualified to make lesson plans and plan the whole curriculum. By law with the amount of students that we had we needed 2 assistants and one licensed professional Teacher and they didn't hire a teacher. \r \r I have chose to leave this job because of the safety precautions. There where several incidents but one that I have to admit here:\r I and another assistant directed the class to play outside in the yard. I told the assistant to keep her eye on the children in the back of the line as I gave my attention to the students in the front of the line. When we got outside I did a head count and 2 children where missing and the assistant was at the door chatting casually with another employee laughing and not even focusing. I alerted her that 2 students where not with us and asked her where they where. She looked at me and ignored me and continued talking. I was furious and I wanted to call the director right then and there but I was stuck with all my children panicking about the other two that wasn't on the line. this happened a total of 5 times! \r \r The director is definitely interested in money because she hires anyone and doesn't care if she doesn't have a licenced teacher she just wants to meet her annual quota of the amount of student she can enroll for classes in a year. So, I resigned with out notice. Pros: students can reach their maximum potential academically Cons: They cover up other issues by the number of academically advanced graduates. more

Do not waste your time 6/22/2007

From the time of the tour, I felt discomfort. This was the worst stressful situation I had been through in my life. My son had just turn 2 and all I heard was one complain after another. When I arrived to pick up my son from daycare, I would always see them holding his hand or carrying him. They did not let him socialize or run around freely as far as I saw. I was also highly insulted when I was reffered to as ""Runaways childs mother"" What kind of business is this for name calling? I had also told them at the beginning that my child was a very picky eater and when I called they would say that he didn't eat or did not know. If my son did not eat his lunch, at least at least give him his snack. No, they starved him! They also force the kids to go to sleep. They would have problems if your child gave them problems sleeping. My son did not last 2 months in this daycare. Everything was a problem and the director is a pure bi**ch. She was nasty when I tried to explain how I felt towards the school and see if we can help one another. She just said ""lets see if he works out"" Right there, I knew, my son would continue with this daycare. She even went as far as telling me that my son has not reached his age level mentally. My son is an activie kid who likes to play and run around and I don't think there ready I felt as if none of the kids are allowed to make mistakes or behave bad because they will tell you off. These people did not give my son a chance within his 2 months there. Kids have to grow used to a place before they can actually get used to their surroundings. This daycare on the other hand, wanted every child to be a robot and satisfy their rules and regulations within minutes and days. I hate this school and I don't recommend anyone to put their child here. Its cheap but their cheap for a reason. Pros: daycare service is very cheap Cons: Dont' know how to handle kids more

BEST AROUND HANDS DOWN 6/12/2007

I have to say I disagree with the bottom two comments. When I enrolled my child I recieved a tour and was treated very cordially. It's true that the director is a no nonsense lady but she has values which are evident. The types of values that VIP daycares offer are unrefutable. My daughter was there from 2001 to 2003 and graduated knowing basic reading, adding, and subtracting. VIP helped my daughter come along and I accredit it for where she is now. She is in fourth grade and has a seventh grade reading level. Her frame work was well put together. Thank you VIP daycare! Pros: values, very educational, convenient Cons: parking more

a place for children and parents to learn 2/28/2007

I've read the 2 reviews above and find their comments the complete opposite to my experience, their opinions don't describe this Center and the devotion shown to children and parents everyday. My child attended this Center for 3 years as well as the children of my friends and family (which I gladly recommended) Their fees are not the focus of this school, which charges less than any other school in the area for hours offered and yet delivers so much more in their caring and teaching. My son left VIP at the age of 6 for 1st Grade, before commencing ""Big School"" he was reading, writting, adding and subtracting and to the astonishment of his current teacher he has advanced so much more (3rd grade reading level now) because he had the tools and techniques VIP taught him at an early age.\r I've seen a few people come and go in the 3 years with them, but mainly because the director does not put up with nonsense, all of my son's friends from their pre-school and pre-K classes graduated with him in June of 2006. For those of us that chose to stay, we were glad to see high standards and expectations surrounding our children . I will continue to recommend this Center for as long as I can because I KNOW their standards will never change, VIP can only benefit children in the long run if they can't (because your child has a learning issue) they'll let you know. Pros: great hours, open all year, caring Cons: pick up time parking more

Simply not the Best! 10/29/2006

A staff member gave my husband and I a very informative and warm tour at this facility located on Woodhaven Blvd. A few days later after contacting the Director to obtain more specific information, I was very unsatisfied with her phone manner. From our short conversation I have gathered that she is interested only in collecting parents money and treats everyone like a number. During our conversation she kept interrupting and her tone was extremely unpleasant. As a concerned parent trying to enroll my child into her facility, she did not cater to my questions and rushed me on the phone. She kept telling me she is running a business and her phone is busy which gave me the impression that she does not have the time to help me with my questions. She should reconsider her title as a daycare Director for she is only interested in collecting money and not treating her customers respectfully. She definitely should enroll in a customer service class! I have enrolled my child at another pre-school center. Pros: Bright and Airy Cons: Not worth giving the Director your money! GO ELSEWHERE! more

Low income area and sadly that means low quality daycare. 10/18/2006

I will never understand why people open a business and look unhappy to do it.\r My niece (5yrs old) attended this daycare during one summer. I figured she could socialize two days a week with other kids. The staff did not cater to me at all-they were practically doing me the favor of taking my money! There was no warm tour or happy kids to interview. The staff-many of which were young screaming girls (maybe college students-if that) overseen by the more qualifed\r administration. Every single time I was there these young women would be YELLING at one child or another. We only used their services for a month and we never returned.\r Pros: One of the few choices-the other near on Cross Bay is worst! Cons: You can tell it's all about the bottom dollar. more
