Unfortunately, if you haven't already been by, in the last year or so, but we had to make the very painful decision to close the nursery & gift shop in September of 2008, due to the economy. We are VERY sad, and I can't seem to "wake up" from a very bad dream, that my BIG dream of owning my own nursery & gift shop, has come to an end. I feel horrible, leaving most of you in the dark, over this past year or so, with no notice, but an empty building to look at when you drive by and cry, when you see how horrible to place looks since we left it. Coming from Sacramento: Highway 99 North, Turn Right onto Bridge Street, heading East you go through 3 signal lights, last one being Shasta Street, Turn Left onto Shasta St. just passed stop sign, and were on the Left side of the street, can't miss it, with the HUGE 100+ year old Magnolia Tree out front. Coming from Chico: Highway 99 South to Highway 20 East, Turn Right onto Plumas Street, which is Downtown. Then Turn Left at Mr. Pickles Deli Shop, which is now Center Street and that runs directly into Shasta Street, Turn Left, and we are on the Left side of the street. Can't miss it! Coming from Auburn: Take Highway 65 out of Lincoln, which runs through Wheatland, and then into Marysville. Turn Left and head towards the Fifth St. Bridge. Go over the 5th St. Bridge and Turn Right at Bridge & Shasta Sts. Go passed Stop sign, and were on the Left side of the street, just passed the big parking lot. Can't miss it! more

Whoa! Can you believe it? Its simply amazing, that we have made it another year in business, and now starting our 3rd Fall Season, right now. Our SECOND YEAR ANNIVERASRY was September 22nd and we just can't believe were still here!! Sometimes I have to pinch myself and remind myself just how much and how far we have come since opening the nursery & magical gift shop. Thank goodness we took LOTS of pictures of the place before we opened, while working on it, painting, cleaning and setting up the nursery paths, tables and fountains. What an incredible amount of work in such a short amount of time, whew! But thanks to all of you, our close friends, customers, acquaintances and I'm sure more, that has supported us from the very beginning, we just wanted to send you a BIG THANK YOU from the bottom of our hearts, without you none of this would still be here today. So keep talkin' and tellin' anyone who will listen to you, that were HERE!! (and by the way, give them directions at the same time, Haha!) The garden is like running around in some old fashioned garden of yester year. The old roses and never ending plants, bring back memories. Just go in the old house, it is like going in a secret room way back in another time. So many scented candles & soaps and special things to see. It is ONE OF A KIND. See for yourself! Vintagehouse Nursery is wonderful. I was there on a cold January day and found all sorts of treasures inside. Some things I just couldn't live without. So even though I was 2000 miles from home and would have to squeeze everything into my suitcase, I continued to pick out more and more. I will be back, Curtis! more

My partner and I live about an hour away from Yuba city but whenever we decide that we need to add to our already overflowing perennial beds, we head to Vintagehouse Nursery. Our own local nursery chain (who will remain unnamed in this review) leaves us unsatisfied- particularly when it comes to roses. Curtis and Michael apply their "vintage style" to their rose selection, and I am amazed at the variety of Species and Old Garden Style roses that they keep on hand. You'll love the variety and selection of the other unique plants at the nursery as well. I bought a variegated pink morning glory there last year- if you haven't seen one, you should really go out of your way! I've been known to spend the greater part of an hour, deciding which scent I like best in the dozens and dozens of scented geraniums on hand. And speaking of scents, my partner will only use Lemon Verbena soap from Vintagehouse Nursery (which reminds me, we're almost out- better make a trip soon!) more

If you ever can pull yourself away from your daily, hustle and bustle of life, swing by and stop for a little relaxation, take a step back in time and come visit us for awhile, while browsing around in the gardens and nursery, and then just when you thought it was time to leave, you just HAVE to come inside the gift shop, located inside the old Crowhurst resident, and taking you back to Grandma & Grandpa's era, and you will have the BEST treasure hunt you've ever had, finding very unique, antique,vintage and magical notions, and will just have to have something before saying goodbye to Vida, the shop kitty. So come & see us, and stay awhile. We'd love to see you. Oh, yea, Bring your wallet, checkbook or plastic with you, just in case, you just have to have something to remember us. Hey! If you haven't been to Vintagehouse Nursery Co, yet, boy have you been missing out on lots & lots of wonderful things and while you are on your Treasure Hunt to find good things, you should also check out the Amazing & Magical Gift Shop, inside the old 125 year old Crowhurst residence. You will be pleasantly surprise just how much you can fit into a very small space. So bring your coffee or a good book to read in the garden, and make sure you have plenty of time to browse, because its going to take you days and days. Enjoy the wonderful old time music playing in the background, and the intoxicating smells of old fashioned candles, French soaps and potpourri's and come by and say hello to "Vida" the Shop Kitty Cat, who just loves attention and can usually be found on the counter. Just recently visited for the first but not last time, the fabulous and amazing Vintagehouse Nursery Co. in Yuba City. Usually I pass through Yuba City on the way to somewhere else.....never dreaming the Vintagehouse Nursery Co. existed there. A friend went on and on about this unusual nursery/gift shop...how there was nothing like it anywhere...how it was hard to describe..but I had to go there with her!! I was amazed when we arrived. It was early, early spring and although not one plant was in bloom...the nursery was full of structural 'bones' as garden designers love to say. The 'hard elements' of a garden that define the space of the garden and provide height and depth to your garden design. Even the bare vine branches looked good on their arbors, gazebos, and trellises. The ponds, waterfalls, and creative use of materials were inspiring to say the least. The owners were very personable. So much so that we felt like we were talking to gardening friends we'd always known. After enjoying every nook and garden room outside.....we went inside the Vintagehouse. I was awestruck! It was as though you were in your grandmother's house but better because there were even more decorating items and ideas than grandma could have ever had!! Talk about reuse of old items, antiques, fabulous decorating items, every holiday represented, and just fun merchandise! The aura was warm, dreamy, boggling, inspiring, and down right mystical and magical in the very best ways possible. We love this place. The owner's Curtis West and Michael Clark couldn't have picked a better name for this throw back to a gentler and more elegant era. Set in a vintage cottage, guests will be delighted with the charm and fragrance of the gift house. It is packed full of gifts and vintage novelties; even a few antiques. And, of course you can find just about anything you need for the garden. Outside on the grounds you will find a wonderful selection of native and old fashioned plants and flowers. Curtis is a wealth of knowledge in the garden and has an eye for beauty and design. We have never once had a bad or even disappointing experience there. We tell everyone we know ( and even a few we don't know) to visit Vintagehouse Nursery. We just can't say enough wonderful things about this place. We are not sure of their exact hours but the are closed on Mondays. more
