Spectacular! 5/31/2010

My boyfriend and I went to Vines to celebrate our 3 year anniversary. From the moment we got to the valet guy all the way untill we left, the experience was nothing less than spectacular. The valet service was quick and personable. The hostesses were beaming with a smile on their face, showing their pride in their job. We were seated right away to a quiet corner of the dining room where we enjoyed wine recommendations by our servers. We ended up picking a sparkling wine and ordered steaks. The food was absolutely tasty and mouth watering! Steaks were cooked just right with the right amount of flavor! Needless to say the service and food is great and my boyfriend and I have found our new favorite anniversary spot! Thanks Vines! Pros: every inch of the restaurant Cons: zip more

UNBELIEVABLE 9/21/2009

If you can only go out once while in Orlando-this would be one of the places. It seemed a little pricey but after what I spent in Disney on a crummy lunch and a bowl of grapes this seemed like a bargain. Found this restaurant online -and what a find. Truly a gem. Had the crab encrusted grouper--could not find the grouper there was so much crab--and the lobster risotto was full of lobster meat. It's nice to know that amidst the many chains in the Orlando area, there is one place that can make it a memorable meal Pros: The most inovative seafood Cons: could be a little pricey-but worth it more

Poor service 9/6/2009

We went for Magical Dining month dinner. How very disappointed we were. The wait staff gave the impression that they were doing us the favor by serving us. No server ever introduced themselves to us. They kind of threw the bread on the table never explaining what was the red sauce that came with. (It was red pepper jam because I finally asked.) The portions were so small, honestly, and we are not big eaters. The food was OK but no one ever checked in with us to see how our food was or if our steaks were down correctly. We waited about 40 minutes for them to finally bring our desserts. Our evening dinner took 2 1/2 hours. You can listen to the jazz band playing in the bar but they only played for 30 minutes out of every hour. (Nice gig if you can get it.) We will never go back to Vines again. There are so many great restaurants in the area that we will not waste our time and money on a restaurant that is expensive, small portions and unattentive servers. Pros: Food OK Cons: Terrible service, small portions more

Best thing to happen to restaurant row since the original Vines! 12/16/2008

Vines has moved to a bigger and better location without losing any of the original charm. If anything it has become warmer and more friendly . You walk in and are immediately embraced with amazing music and friendly and welcoming staff. It shows that everyone is very proud of the upgrade and it shows in the service and the amazing food. There is no better steak on the row and I believe that they will only improve because they have only been in the new location for 2 weeks and it can only go up! It is exciting to have a world class restaurant in our neighborhood and we should all be very excited! more

WHAT A SHAME-NASTY FOOD-GROSS WAITRESSES-LOUD-OVERPRICED 12/16/2008

DON'T WASTE YOUR TIME OR MONEY...The food is cold and tasteless. The service is horrible, the girls are flirty and crude to get their tips & deliver awful service....Very Rude to my wife. I think they hire from a street corner. The management is rude too when you return food for being cold. Prices are way over priced for the quality. What a shame, they will go down fast...No one I know is returning. It will take a while for people to realize how overated Vines made themselves out to be. Bye Bye Vines...your off our list of places to dine!!!!! Do us a favor and close up now so there can be an elegant & charming place in the Fountains. Cons: FOOD-SERVICE more

Great Atmosphere Forgetable food 12/14/2008

We live locally and had stopped frequently at the old location to have a drink and listen to the jazz. They moved into a larger venue just a few doors away. The decor and atmosphere are top rate. Service is very good. Prices are very high with few entrees under $30 and salads/sides are all al la carte above that (menu can be seen online, but site won't let me link it). I had Caesar Salad and Chilean Sea Bass. I have to say it was the worst Caesar I ever had (bland dressing) and though the fish was cooked well I didn't care for the risotto. I thought for $38 I might get more than 2 asparagus. My wife had the Vines salad and liked it. She got the fried shrimp and thought it was dry and overcooked. Maybe we should have gotten steaks. I think we will stick to drinks and jazz in the future and eat somewhere else. Pros: atmosphere Cons: food more

Everything's good, few things are great. Prices higher than expected. 7/17/2008

First off - prices. I don't think there were too many entrees UNDER $30. Most of what we saw & ordered were in the $35-50 range. However, the food was all solid. Steaks were well cooked and presented. Potatoes & side dishes good. The octopus appetizer was tasty. Deserts also good, but we were too full to finish. We sat in the very back where the sound of the jazz quartet was enjoyable and not overpowering. For a nice meal at a higher than expected price, this was a good choice. If steak is your thing, there are better options (hard to beat Ruth's Chris) but I doubt you'll have a bad meal here. You may not have something that makes you say ""Wow, this is the best __ ever!"" but that's not always possible. One last thing - read your bill. We were accidentally billed for an extra bottle of wine. Other than that, service was very good. more

What are you people talking about?? Vines is Amazing!! 4/23/2008

I have never been so shocked when reading a review in my life! Vines is a wonderful restaurant. I live locally, and frequent Vines as often as possible.Trust me, from a person who is as critical of food and restaurants as I am, this is saying a lot. I realize that most people write reviews only when something irritating has happened and rarely when they enjoy themselves. So I would like to set the record straight... Vines is amazing. The place hums with this unique energy that is infectious from the moment you walk through their doors. The menu is diverse and the food is outstanding. The Chef's daily specials which I have opted for numerous times deserve a round of applause. The staff is very kind and knowledgable. They have an enormous selection of wine and great live jazz. What more do you want? more

Over priced and LOUD! 4/11/2008

My husband and I went for a romantic dinner with some live jazz, what we got was over priced food and loud banging on the piano. It all sounds good on paper but in reality It was not good. The food was salty and soooo overpriced. I can't say it enough. Beware, the menu looks great but does not taste great. Will not recommend to anyone. Besides there are so many other great restaurants to choose from, do yourself a favor and go somewhere else. Do not even attempt it, unless you have money to throw away. Pros: Good Service Cons: Bad food and too loud more

Highly Reccomended 9/30/2007

Last night I went to the Vines and have to say ""very impress"". I have never had quite this type of dining experience in Orlando. The food was q excellent. I had the cheese platter which had a wide variety of cheese. My date mentionned there was a spicey chocolate which I thought was crazy. I was laughing all night because he was right. The chocalate featured on the cheese platter is the most amazing chocolate I have had. The seared tuna was excellent except the noodles were a little too soggy. The lamb was cooked perfectly and is reccomended for meat lovers. Pros: Great food & Music Cons: None more

5 Stars 6/22/2007

One of the best steaks I've had anywhere. I took a group of ten there, we all enjoyed it. WHAT A GREAT PLACE. THE FOIE GRAS IS A MUST!! Pros: Great Jazz Cons: Hard to get a reservation more

Fantastic Food, Service, and Entertainment! 6/11/2007

Vines Grille & Wine Bar ~ One of the best dining experiences I've ever had! The presentation and taste of the food was great. This restaurant has a true variety from steak to seafood and is definitely high quality. The service was great as well. The staff are warm and friendly, and what I would like to call ""Johnny on the Spot."" This restaurant is all about having a good time, and the staff are there to make sure that you do! The entertainment was also good, especially if you enjoy jazz and blues. Again, this was a great dining experience and one that eveyone should go and experience. Pros: Great atmoshphere more

Dont go there!! 1/6/2007

We wanted a night out!!!but what we got was cold lobster and steak.. an overpriced bill!!! Pros: Atmosphere Cons: Food, overpriced loud annoying band more

Awful Jazz Band noise 6/10/2006

What a shame. Such good food but drowned out by the mediocre jazz band. Do I really want to hear a drum solo while I'm enjoying an excellent glass of wine and a succulant steak. Wouldn't I rather share in some good conversation with my dining companions, if for no other reason than to share comments on the food. It is absolutely impossible to carry on a conversation even in the back room. Pros: good food Cons: Lousy ambience, jazz or food. don't ruin the food with the loud j more

Disappointment 2/12/2006

My wife and I went to Vines anticipating a romantic night out, with Jazz, great food, and excellent service. What we received was far from that. We were seated at a cocktail table right next to the drummer, and the staff refused to move us to an available booth, even though we had reservations. It just went downhill from there. The service was awful, we had to get our own silverware from another table, as we could not find someone to help us. The food was not prepared as requested, and when brought to the attention of the staff they did little to address the issue. In short this was one of the worst dinning exp's we have ever had and we truely are not difficult people to make happy. Pros: Good music, available parking Cons: Bad service, Food over priced, Bad service more

As an orlando native, I know how difficult it is to find a restraunt worth it's salt in our chain restaurant infested city. From the steaks that rival any Chicago steakhouse, to the innovative seafood entrees, Vines has scored a perfect ten with me everytime I visit. Their wine list is second to none, and their staff is quick to guide you through it in a friendly, non-pretentious manner. Whether you are looking for a once in a lifetime Lafite, or a small vineyard jewel, you are sure to find it at Vines. For myself, the live jazz is icing on the cake. Each visit is a new experience that makes me never want to leave. I recommend locals and visitors alike discover Vines, Orlando's culinary treasure. Pros: Wine, Food, Jazz more

A cool place in town 8/30/2005

I've been going to Vines for a year now and I would'nt change it for any other place. they have great music with live band, the customer service of the staff is wonderful and mgt could'nt be better. It's a freindly atmosphere and the selection of wines could'nt be wider. I just love it and every time I have freinds in town I take them there. Pros: good parking more

Easy going sophistication 8/7/2005

This is the most friendly place in town. Food is great without any pretentions (like some restaurants in the vicinity that think they serve something new). The band is awsome, people are diverse, sophisticated but not pretentious. Most importantly the staff and management know about food, wine and hospitality while being friendly and ready to accomodate you and your friends even without reservation (not recommended). Pros: ambiance, steaks, parking more

DON'T GO THERE! 7/8/2005

Worst dining experience in 15 years. The service and management quality of this restaurant makes the worst Denny's look like service utopia. Many entrees are around $40, so for Orlando, it's high priced. That can be OK though, if the experience matches the pricing. We had a table of 8 - all evening, everyone had to aggressively flag down wait staff for replacement drinks. 2 entrees were delivered wrong, which is OK in principle. But no wait staff or management came to the table for the next 20 minutes - those with food had completely finished, and still nothing from wait staff or management. Eventually, I had to go searching for the manager, who became immediately argumentative. It goes on and on. So - if you don't fancy the feelings that come with very high prices and the worst service in the catering industry, DON'T GO THERE. more
