Vine Tavern & Eatery

This is my favorite dive bar in Iowa City. They have the best Buffalo Chicken Sandwich and French Fries. I always get the super hott Buffalo Chicken Sandwich and it always seems hotter to me than the one they serve in Coralville. They by far have the best Buffalo Chicken Sandwich in Iowa City and I would recommend trying it. The only reason I gave them 4 stars instead of 5 is because let's face it, it's kind of dark and depressing inside and the service is pretty terrible. However, it's a great place to go if you like dive bars and for a Buffalo Chicken Sandwich. more

I think the vine is a great place to go to watch any type of sports game. My friends and I mostly go there to watch football. It is a dive bar and the atmosphere is dark but the food is fantastic. My favorite is the Buffalo Chicken sandwich, super hot, with fries. They have the best Buffalo Chicken sandwich I have ever had and they have amazing fries. I love coming to the vine, it is a great place to go to chill with your friends and to enjoy great food. more

The Iowa City Vine has taken a nosedive the past year. This place used to have great wings and it was a fun place to be. The last times I have been in there the wings were dry as hell and had almost no sauce. It tasted like eating cardboard with charcoal sprinkled on it. I ate about 4 of the dozen and left the rest. The waitress asked if I wanted a to go box. I think I needed a barfbag instead because I just got done eating the soot from the bottom of a fireplace. I would steer clear from this place and at least go to the one in Coralville where they are probably not allowed to smoke joints in the kitchen like they do on a regular basis at the IC stop (true story). Now they must be doing meth cause at least back then they could still run an oven and grill. more

The Vine isn't a hopping place but do have very good food deals and excellent wings. On Tuesday's and Thursdays they have 30 cent wings. The wings themselves are a bit on the small side but flavor is big. My personal favorites are the Bourbon Teriyaki. If you like hot wings they have Mediums, Hots, and Superhots which will take your lips off. Mediums are perfect for me; flavorfull with enough spice. Beer prices are very good as well.
