Vincent Funeral Home

I have turned myself inside and out trying to do business - advance planning - for a relative who wished to have this funeral home handle her funeral arrangements. No calls back, failed to deposit check (yes, I tried to give them money), no contract sent as indicated would be done, was given excuse after excuse, i.e. ""I am on vacation but came in, I never take a vacation"" only problem with this excuse was that it was the same one used on another occasion, ""I'm going to school too"". I was told when I called this last time and finally got someone to answer the phone (a man), that my call would be returned by a Funeral Director - call was returned by secretary who never takes a vacation.The crowning glory was when I was asked if this was a Title 19 case - I had been dealing with this woman for quite some time; she acknowledged that she had received the bank check six weeks earlier and NOW it was going to take another 4 to 6 weeks to process through some other entity....and how some people essentially try to ""bury money"" (pun intended) in funeral something-or-other. I finally stopped payment on the check when the contract failed to arrive within a few days as promised. DO NOT try any pre-planning with this funeral home - it obviously fails to take the living seriously....and now I'm a little concerned about the deceased. more

I'm shocked and outraged by the negative reviews of Vincent Funeral Home. I can only conclude those people either are market competitors or simply delusional. The Vincent Family has been serving Simsbury and the Farmington Valley for over 100 years. They have provided services for my grandparents, father, and most recently, my sister. They are empathetic, responsive, and thoroughly professional. They will do whatever you need to have the service you want for your loved ones. For my sister, who died suddenly, they successfully enabled us to have a Catholic/Buddhist service. Any idea how hard that is--particularly over the New Year's holiday? The service went off flawlessly. And that was because of the tireless work of the Vincents and their staff. I trust them so much, that when I die, I am planning to have them handle my services--and I live in New York City. In short, if you live anywhere near Simsbury, these are the people to trust at the most difficult times of your life. Clueless, inconsiderate, lack of attention to details, they outsource everything, can't even find the drivers (cell phones turned off!) when needed! What a shame a company like this would trade on a formerly respected local name and take advantage of people during the worst times of their lives, arranging for and burying a loved one. Death certificates, ""in the mail"" must be their catch phrase. Violate federal requirements to provide paperwork. Humble is a word no one EVER taught these miscreants the meaning of. No stars -or even a negative star count- would be appropriate but it's not permitted. more

Avoid using this business. Their service is poor and never return a phone call. I have been hounding them for extra death certificates since July. Their excuse is "" It's in the mail"". You can never speak to anyone except their answering service which must be under a great deal of pressure. It's September 14. 2010. I already paid for 20 death certificates haven't seen one yet. If you want to go through this treatment during the worst time in your life hire this idiots. Take stay away.. The bigger problem is there is no state agency to regulate this business. I wonder if I received the right remains ! more
