Don't let the name fool you: this isn't an especially pretentious hairdresser's, nor is it much of a "salon" at all. The Village Square barber shop I know is like a good ol' boys' club; the same guy always cuts my hair.
It's a nice place, a holdover from the kind of barber shops that you see in movies fifty years ago. Everybody who does haircuts is a man. There's a woman who does women's manicures in a side room. But that's not sexist; it's just how it is. It's a nice place, that's all. They're friendly people, and they can always fit you into their schedule in between that fishing trip or Indians game.
