Last year, in the midst of trying to figure out what was causing intense neurological symptoms that were ruining my life I went to go see Dr. Calkins. At this time i was allready under the care of a neurosurgeon who was ready to operate because he felt my symptoms where related to a Chiari 1 type malformation.The only reason we even visited the office was because before being diagnosed with a Chiari malformation we thought i may have had JRA. we figured going to see her couldn't hurt. She ran me threw a battery of tests and told me that i had P.O.T.S, fibromyalgia and that getting a Chiari decompression would be one of the biggest mistakes of my life. She also prescribed these insane steroids that had all of these horrible side effects. My family, surgeon and I came to the conclusion that she was completely wrong and scheduled surgery. IT WAS THE BEST DESICON I EVER MADE IN MY LIFE!!! She was so wrong about my case and I'm so happy i did not listen to her. I would definitely not recommend going to see her. more

Dr. Calkins is a pediatrician and a pediatric rheumatologist. We went to see her about my child's joint pain since she is the only pediatric rheumatologist in our area. She was gruff and unfriendly to us and my child. The medical student working with her was nicer. She gave us a diagnosis that later proved to be wrong. We felt extremely uncomfortable with her and will not return there. more
