Village Kids Nursery School

Village Kids is truly a diverse program - and not just in ethnic characteristics! The community is broad based - from artists and aromatherapists, to teachers and traders. The teachers are wonderful - tolerant, kind, enthusiastic, and innovative. These traits have been reflected in the development of my own child, who has grown from a sweet but cautious little boy, to a confident, thoughtful leader. Village Kids has been a wonderful school for my two children. My children attended another school nearby for two years and needed to be coaxed from the stroller on a daily basis. Now, they eagerly run into school. The teachers are not only nurturing, but also really know early childhood education. This is demonstrated by a weekly newsletter outlining all of the week's highlights and by the way my children have been learning without being spoonfed information. The director is a great advocate when extra services are needed, and will go the extra mile to make sure these are attained. There is a spacious gym which the kids really enjoy, and although there is no outdoor space, the school utilizes a local playground whenever weather allows. This school is a hidden gem. I looked at all the other nursery schools in the hood, and this one was last on my list until I actually went there to check it out. Located in the former Nell's space (a place where I used to hang out), now nursery school. All the rooms have sunlight that eminate from the front rooms, the children all seem genuinely happy, the teachers are great and truly care for their well being and development. Each class has time in the gym every day, they also incorporate a lot of art, and have music sessions. Learning seems to happen in a natural way, and not through flash cards. Student/Teacher ratio is amazing! At the end of every week we get a recap with pictures of what the children did in the week. Parents and staff are very involved in the development of the school, so all feedback is welcome. Overall, I am very pleased with our selection and feel that we are part of a community and not just sending our kids to school there. Pros: Great Staff, Great Space Cons: Nothing major more

The director really knows what she is doing and more importantly knows how to hire really top people. My sons teachers have been great!! For all the fact it is located above a Subway the rooms are very very well equipped, each room has a pet because it's part of the education process,. The program is also very very rich. Or will be. When it's done. Good people doing it for the right reasons. Used to be Nell's so lots of the kids mom's and dad's partied there before they were moms and dads. Pros: Great teachers who really know the kids well and treat them with respect. Cons: No outdoor space. more
