Villa Rosa Italian Restaurant

I attempted to call Villa Rosa twice to gather information for a story I am working on for family-friendly restaurants. I was hung up on twice. This is a very UN-friendly establishment, apparently. more

I have long been a fan of Villa Rosa. It's great for a quick slice on the way to (or from) the PATCO. The owners/operators are a family of gracious hosts.\r Last Friday, four colleagues and I visited Villa Rosa for dinner. We were warmly greeted when we entered, and we were shown to the dining room in the rear. Our server was able to answer our question about ingredients and preparation. She opened and iced our BYOB and took out orders. The bread and salads arrived promptly, and the meals soon followed. We enjoyed our dinners, and we lingered over coffee and desert. We dined for nearly two hours in the true Italian fashion. \r We had a very enjoyable evening at Villa Rosa for a hundred bucks. Mediocre food -- if you've never had Italian food before, you might think this is great. Smaller portions than most other restaurants, mushy penne. All this is easy to be overlooked if not for the awful service I recieved. The owner of the restaurant handled my table. I was suprised to see he had overcharged all of our entrees by $3 a piece! You'd think the owner of the restaurant would know the prices of his entrees -- obviously, he was trying to pull a 'fast one' on us. I brought this mistake to his attention, and he assured me I must be mistaken. I told him to bring me the menu, and once I said that, he relented and changed the bill. He then proceeded to charge my credit card for the incorrect amount. I was appalled! He told me he would not refund my card, and that I would have to accept a cash refund. If my fiancee was not there, I would have handled the situation differently, but I did not want to make a scene.\r \r Avoid this place at all costs.
