I have been a member of VLFC for over 10 years and I love it! I have toured the other gyms in the area: AMF, Gold's, etc. and am always drawn back to VL. I love the carpeted aerobic floor, I love the classes (more at my pace vs. at other gyms), the variety of classes and equipment. The trainers meet my needs. Best of all, it's affordable at $15 a month. I go to the West End location so I can't speak for the Southside location but if you're in doubt, perhaps visit the WE location to compare. more

This is the worst place to go ladies!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! First off, all the staff is unprofessional and rude, especially the Boss, who should have never been hired in the first place. WE PAY YOU OUR MONEY! HELLO!!!!!!!!!!!! All I ask is for yall to just be nice with people. Take my advise, do not ever go there again and desperately warn EVERYONE (and I mean E V E R Y O N E) you know.... more

Went in to sign my daughter up and noticed all the equipment past the front door was old, dirty and busted (for real, busted). When inquired about the busted equipment I was asked to leave or the cops would be called!?? Don't know where that came from!!! Tried to contact the owner to discuss what happened and received no return call after numerous attempts. But guess what, American Family Fitness Center was glad to accomodate me and my entire family. The manager at this location ( i believe her name is Lisa) is VERY unprofessional and has a NASTY attitutde. The fact that the owner (Wendy) would not even return my phone call tells me she agress with the behavior exhibited at this location. At this point, I don't care if the cost was free, I could forget about the old dirty carpeting and busted equipmenmt, but I won't forget about how I was treated!!! more

I've been a member of Victory Lady for over 10 years. I stay with them because they're cheap. The staff is inexperienced and there is a high turnover rate. I think my biggest problem is the noise. Unfortunately I am only able to go after work (5:30) and there is always a class in progress. Please note that this gym is just ONE BIG ROOM. The instructors turn up the volume of the music so loud that you are unable to hear your own headphones. Furthermore, they yell. Why they yell, I don't know. I asked the Manager once if she could explain why the volume needed to be so loud and of course I just got a blank look. So if you are looking for a place to unwind and exercise this isn't it. I don't go as often as I used to because of this and I mostly certainly skip the evenings that Kemel is there because he's the worst. If you can afford it go down the road to AFF!!! more

I worked for Victory Lady several years ago. While it's true that trainers are not certified and "read out of a manual", this helps keep membership fees low because the employees make very little money. You get what you pay for. It's a choice the owner made long ago - to cater to women who are more out of shape in leiu of the Fit Girl gym sterotype. She is not easy to work with or work for, but she is successful (enough to satisfy herself anyway) and there is little chance of changing her attitude. If you are serious, experienced in training and working out, this is not the gym for you, and you will see that for yourself right away. If you are just starting out and feel intimidated by a gym, this is a good place to start. more

I dont know what the other reviewer means with that the owner is rude! Whenever I enter I am always greeted, and if the owner is up there she always says Hi! They dont just offer 3 year contracts. I got a 6month contract for $99 total. That's less than $20 a month! VLC is a great gym, that offers many different style of exercise classes, and is always adding to their exercise equipment. more

It's a scam to make you join when they have 13,000 members and the gym holds only 500 people. They KNOW that you won't stick to a 3 year membership and they count on it! The personal trainers are not certified and read out of a manual how to teach people equipment, that is dangerous. The owner is very rude and none of her employees end up staying there because of her. more

For the cost of this place, you can go down the road and get a better deal at AFF. The ladies working here are so out of shape themselves that it does little to inspire. Save your money! more
