We had our wedding at VERITAS in June 2010. The food, wine, and service were all good until we cut the cake. I went to wash my hands and left my wedding band in the bathroom, I went back 5 minutes later and it was not there. It was anonymously returned to the vineyard later that month and placed in the mailbox, with no postage on the envelope, with a note stating that it was mine. The ring had been altered, to be resold, and was basically ruined. According to one of the employees only the mailman and other employees know where the mailbox is located. I contacted the owner, who had no idea this event occurred, and I asked him if he would be willing to pay for the repair. Since it seemed that one of his employees was involved and it was my wedding night, I thought that he would be apologetic and try to help me rectify the situation. However, he said that he would NOT pay for it, and would contact his lawyer to see if he was liable. NICE!
The repair to the ring cost $400, and we spent $30K at the vineyard. Greed is a powerful emotion and you don’t have to worry about me, my wife, or anyone we know ever going back there for anything ever.
