My husband and I were first time customers to Venturas on 5/17/08. We mentioned this to our waiter when we were seated. It was about 5 o'clock on a Saturday night and the restaurant maybe had 10 customers. We should have realized then that this was a bad sign. After our waiter took our order a table of four sat next to us. Their waiter read off a list of specials. Our waiter failed to mention any specials to us. When I ordered my dinner I asked if there were any type of potato as a side. He told me that there may be mashed potatoes but if not I would get a mixed veg dish. I was fine with that all though you would think a restaurant would have more than one side dish. We waited quite some time for our food which was strange because the restaurant was virtually empty. When my soup arrived it tasted burnt. Then, finally, dinner was served. I ordered salmon and it was bad. By bad, I mean it was way past it's freshness date. I don't know how a chef or a restaurant could have ever served such a lousy piece of fish. Plus, the waiter was sorry, no mashed potatoes. As, I pushed away my uneaten dinner, the table next to us was being served their dinners. Hey, surprise, mashed potatoes on their platters! When I told the waiter the fish was bad, he said he was sorry and asked if I wanted anything else. We had already spent enough time waiting for a lousy dinner so I said, no thanks. You would have thought that maybe management would have come over and asked us about our dining experience but no such luck. Totally unconcerned. I do have to say that my husband ordered veal parm and while he has had better, at least it was edible. We are not fussy customers at all, we just wanted a nice dinner out. We did not yell or make a fuss...maybe we should have. So, we just paid our bill and left, never to return.
Pros: pretty view
Cons: slow service, food isn't fresh, unconcerned staff
