Good, but not great 11/5/2006

This place is quite good, and well above average, but not worth driving from Santa Monica, Hollywood, or West LA to try. If you live in the South Bay give it a try. The reason I only give this place a recommended is because there is SO much competition for ice cream in the beach cities. Manhattan Beach creamery, Manhattan Beach Gelato, and best of all, Crema Dolce in the Riviera Village of South Redondo are better in my opinion. After those places, the ice cream shop on the end of pier ave in hermosa beach comes next. Not only are all of these ice cream places in very nice beach downtown areas, but the selection at these places are better than lickity splits. Anywhere else, and I would give this place a highly recommended, but it should be 5th on your list in the south bay. As people have said, frozen custard is far better than baskin robins ice cream, but super fresh ice cream made with natural ingredients, more flavors, and mix ins is better than frozen custard in my opinion. lickty split has about 10 flavors with nothing mixed in while Creme dolce has 36 flavors of sorbet, gelato, and extremely fresh ice cream. Good, but certainly not #1 3/15/2006

After reading about Lickity Split being the best ice cream in LA I made a little side trip there while in Manhattan Beach. Was it good? Sure. Was it the best ice cream in LA? Hardly. Would I buy it again if I happened to be by one of their shops? Sure. Would I go out of my way again to visit one of their shops? No. It's not that good. In Search of the best Ice Cream 7/5/2005

Or should I say custard. This place has very good custard. They let you taste any flavor you want before buying. Nice atmosphere and quiet. The custard does not soften up like ice cream. Wow! Even yummier than Ice Cream! 6/3/2005

I was on City Search and saw the other reviews for Lickity-Split.....so I decided to go. I'm glad I did! I've never tasted anything so creamy & smooth. The staff was so nice & very knowledgable about the custard that is actually made FRESH!! I'll be back! more

Made me a true Lover of Frozen Custard 6/2/2005

I was an ice cream fanatic and would've never agreed to switch to Frozen Custard until a friend invited me to Lickity Split and made me taste it. It's so much smoother, creamier and richer tasting I've become a true Frozen Custard addict now. They also make a mean Tuna croissant-wich that's also addicting! more

who would think that there could be something that's better than ice cream. but the folks at lickity split have definitely come up with it. their frozen custard is out of this world. it's smooth, rich texture is outdone only by how incredibly creamy and delicious it tastes. if you have not tried it, you won't believe what you're missing. it is absolutely amazing! I sampled my first frozen custard ever at the Manhattan Village store of Lickity Split. WOW!! This is the most delicous product, smoother and richer tasting than ice cream or even gelato, and super fresh. The store is charming and the service great. They have wonderful seasonal flavors too and use the freshest ingredients. I cannot wait for their new Hollywood store at the Egyptian Theater to open so I can make a visit a weekly habit. WOW - THIS IS THE BEST! 6/1/2005

I was thrilled when they opened Lickity Split in Manhattan Village! It tastes SO MUCH better than ice cream! It's so creamy, yet it doesn't feel 'heavy'. I recently tried something new - honey lemon - what a refreshing flavor! My teens think this frozen custard is THE BOMB! Pros: Inexpensive, Very clean, Great service! more

I came upon Lickity Split in El Segundo and decided to give it a try- I'll admit it was partly because it was supposed to be lower in fat that regular ice cream but you certainly can't tell! I love everything pumpkin and I was so excited to see they had a pumpkin flavor! I don't eat ice cream anymore - nothing compares to Lickity Split frozen custard! more

Being an Ice cream addict, it was very hard to convince me to try the frozen custard. I realized that it's so much smoother, tastier and richer than the old stuff. Keep the flavors coming! more

LOVE IT 5/11/2005

OK I am addicted and so are my kids - peppermint, green tea, dulce de leche, coffee and all so creamy! Trust me you won't eat regular ice cream again! If you have to, there is sorbet also, When I am in the mall I go there for lunch as it is quick and delicious. El Segundo is fun too! more

NOT ONLY IS THE HOMEMADE FROZEN CUSTARD DELICIOUS, BUT LICKITY SPLIT HAS BY FAR THE BEST TUNA FISH SANDWICHES ON THE WEST COAST. THE HOMEMADE TUNA IS PACKED INTO FRESHLY BAKED CROISSANTST THAT JUST MELT IN YOUR MOUTH!!!! I EAT THEM EVERYDAY FOR LUNCH!!!!!! more

After leaving the midwest about 20 years ago, finally somone has brought the best dessert known to man to the west coast. Lickitysplit has the same amazing taste and texture that I grew up on in the 50's and 60's; I can't believe the authenticity of their product. I saw a segment on them on cbs news and went running there, boy was it worth the drive!!! more

Nostalgic, but also New! 4/21/2005

I haven't had frozen custard since I was a kid growing up in the Midwest, but even if you have never had it, you will LOVE it, especially this version. It is so creamy and so much better than Ice Cream!!!! My favorite is the Peppermint, but they are all so good. Worth the trip off the freeway. They need MORE of these!!!!!
