This was a different atmosphere for me. It was casual and laid back. The service was pretty good. I didn't have to wait long for a waitress to come along to order my drink. Would probably do well if they expanded a little to accommodate more people so that people would not have to stand around. more

Velvet Dog. 8/14/2005

The Velvet Dog is located near the Empire room, and a few other bars on that street. It has a more laid back attitude and look than the dance club, Empire room does. It doesn't get as busy here, which is nice if you want to sit on the patio and talk to your friends, or even sit inside at one of the two different bars in the building. Very cozy and inviting. more

Martini Corner 8/2/2005

The Velvet Dog is located in the Martini Corner District on 31st street. This bar has an intimate setting and great staff. Has been voted best martinis and best patio bar by a few local newspapers for the past couple years. The only really bad thing about this place, is that it gets pretty packed on the weekends, and its hard to move around through out the bar. more
