This clinic gave me an appointment on short notice to see my very ill Maine Coon. Once there, we didn't wait very long, and Dr. Julie Brazeau was thorough in her exam and explana...

Took my sick dog in, the vet felt her gut, took xrays, found nothing, or saw nothing and still decided she needed surgery asap. To the tune of $2600.00. Took longer working up the...

No Compassion whatsoever 1/6/2009

Our pets have been treated at this clinic for over 14 years. We recently found out that we had to have our family dog of 15 years put to sleep. I was mortified to find out that this clinic charges EXTRA, double the normal euthanasia fee, for you to be present at the euthanasia. This is the epitomy of greed. To take advantage of someone's grief and to charge a fee so you can be with your pet at the end is one of the most compassionless, cold-hearted acts I can think of. After some quick calls to other vets to see if this was a common practice, it seems that this clinic is the only one in the area that I found that had this surcharge. Most that I talked to were astounded to find out they charged this fee. Adjectives such as cruel, and reprehensible were used by other professionals in this field. Needless to say I will never use this clinic again. more

Dr. Walls is the best 8/8/2007

I have been to the Covington Animal Hospital twice with a sick hamster. I know in the grand scheme of things a hamster may not rate much with people, but Dr. Walls treated Marshmallow with tremendous care and compassion, not to mention skill (Marshmallow recovered = ). The staff at the hospital has been kind and inviting. I am grateful to all of them. more

Covington Animal Hospital is WONDERFUL! 7/24/2007

My family and I have been coming to this over the last 20 years. We have referred so many people and there have never been any negative comments by any of our family or friends. My animals have all been cared for so carefully and the staff is so friendly and cooperative. My animals love returning and they make us feel welcome. I would love to continue to refer to this hospital as long as I have pets in my life. Thank you to Dr. Walls, Dr. Brazeau, Dr. Krpatova and the sweet staff. See you soon! more

Who writes those bad reviews 7/16/2007

I've been taking my animals to Covington Vet Hospital for 15 years now, and never had a bad experience as described in some of the other reviews that I read. The dog that I have now, loves them so much that he gets anxious whenever we drive by, and one time when I was walking him around Wal-Mart, he led me to Covington Vet Hospital because he wanted to come in and say, "Hi." They've always given helpful service to my cat, and have called me when they wanted to know how she was doing. Some people may not like them, but in my house, my animals take priority, and they like Covington Vet Hospital. more

worst Veterinary experience ever! 5/22/2007

My first problem with them happened when I had a question about a medication that was prescribed for my cat and called to ask a few questions and the receptionist asked me "What do you expect me todo go get his records or something?" I was shocked, after spending several hundred dollars to get my pet well if I have a question on his medication I do expect you to get his records and answer a few questions. This last time I called I was trying to get an appointment to see the doctor and they couldn't fit him in that day and when I said it was important for my cat to see a doctor today they didn't do anything ((when I called another vet (Not my regular vet) that was booked they helped me find a vet in my area that would see my cat that day). The only thing that Covington Vet clinic would do was take my name and number (when I requested to talk to his regular vet) and then she hung up on me mid sentence. Needless to say the vet never called me back. I wouldn't take an animal to this clinic again if they paid me. Better to drive the extra distance to a clinic that cares about animals. more

Excellent care at this vacility for 7 years. 3/14/2007

I have taken my female Golden retriever here since she was a puppy and have never encountered any of the problems mentioned by a few of the reviewers. My phone calls have always been answered very courteously, I have never encountered anything but very friendly receptionists when I have taken my dog there. She was diagnosed early by Dr. Walls with a torn acl and he was very thorough about explaining all the options to me and recommending a vet surgeon who he thought would do the proper procedures. We followed his advice and she ended up having to have both ACL's repaired and her legs are very healthy today and we are thankful he was able to give us such good advice and recommendations on how to treat. She has had other problems over the years and each one has been handled totally to my satisfaction. I would highly recommend Dr. Walls and the Covington facility. more

If you care about your animal, run away from this facility 11/9/2006

I called VCA in California (the overseers of the franchise) and complained about this Covington office because: You call their office, they pick up the phone and say, "Is this an emergency or can you hold?" I said, "I can hold" thinking it would be a 1 or 2 minute wait. 17 minutes later they had not gotten back to me! I called again and this time I said I had an emergency...I needed to make an appointment for my dog who was unable to walk. The rude receptionist actually argued with me that this was not an emergency and hung up on me! I drove 25 minutes to the facility and made the appointment in person...there wasn't a sole in the waiting room and the staff was chatting about personal problems. For an office that is handling all these emergencies it seemed very, very slow at the front desk. I did all of this because I really like Dr. Jensen as a vet. After talking to "higher ups" at VCA in California I was met by the Operations Manager at the Covington office when I arrived for the visit for my dog. He apologized profusely and said they had a new phone system. I told him this kind of rudeness by the front desk had happened to me on many occasions (which it has) and it had nothing to do with a phone system...they have a very rude front desk staff. I was in the middle of a long term care situation with my dog who is near the end of his life and must see a vet often to control pain. Ten days later, I called and asked that Dr. Jensen call me right away as my dog was in a lot of pain and I was thinking things had been fixed at the front desk after speaking to the Operations Manager. I was told Dr. Jensen would be back to me in 24 hours. 48 hours later I had not received a phone call from Dr. Jensen. I called again and said I had an emergency and "DON'T PUT ME ON HOLD." The front desk immediately put me on hold. SO, I got in the car and drove 25 minutes to the facility to ask for a return phone call from Dr. Jensen. Nobody could find the file on my dog who had been in just 10 days prior. After showing up in person to ask that Dr. Jensen call me, she DID call me as soon as I arrived home. She told me she had never received my first message and apologized profusely and said she knew how important it was to get back to me ASAP with my dog at this stage of his life. I believe her. All of you will ask "Why did you keep going back?" Because I knew Dr. Jensen was setting up her own practice in Tacoma and leaving soon. She has now left and I am following her to Tacoma to what will hopefully be a much more organized and kind office. (She was not in charge of staff, etc. at Covington.) EVEN THE LONG TERM DOCTORS ARE LEAVING THE PLACE! Do yourself a favor and don't get involved in the chaos and rudeness at Covington Vet. They will add a lot of stress to your life which few of us need when our animals are ill. There are far too many well run veterinary offices in the area. For all of you who found a kind and compassionate staff at Covington, I say, "Best of Luck. You must have been there on a rare good day when the front desk staff was feeling happy and kind...a very infrequent occurrence." more

HORRIBLE facility! Please PLEASE find another place. 10/13/2006

My first visit to this office was a nightmare. Upon arrival, we were greeted by a frigid receptionist. Would it have killed her to smile? Whatever happened to courtesy? After waiting 20 minutes, a veterinary associate approached us with needles in hand and without introducing herself, told us that she would have to give our puppy her vaccinations right there in the lobby as they had, "two cats in the back" - whatever that means! I was appalled and mortified! Whatever happened to professionalism? Furthermore, despite calling ahead and providing detailed information of what we needed during our visit, they still managed to mess things up. They forgot to give our puppy a vaccination that would've prevented her from being accepted to a boarding facility! If I hadn't noticed this ommission we'd have had to come back another day and probably charged another office visit fee. As if that wasn't enough, there was a lady there with what appeared to be a very ill puppy. She made them aware that she found the puppy @ a barn. Instead of treating her gently and kindly all they wanted to talk about was if she would "take responsibility" for the dog or the puppy would be released to a shelter once it's been treated. Where is the compassion? Lastly, I inquired about getting our puppy spayed and it was like pulling teeth to get information! Had I not known what questions to ask I wonder what, other than how much it would cost, information she would've given me. No pamphlets, no brochures, no website referrals were provided. Where is the customer service? Again, no one introduced themselves, no one smiled the whole hour we were there and they barely made eye contact with me when they spoke. We spent over a $100 @ this place and entrusted them with our best friend, you'd think they could @ least attempt to make you comfortable. more

Very helpful and supportive 8/1/2006

Everyone at Covington Vet Hospital is friendly and knowledgeable. I've never had a bad experience there in the 6+ years I've taken my pets (1 dog, 2 cats) there. I recommend them to anyone in the area looking for a vet. They are also a great place to board your animals. My dog used to love staying there, and sometimes seemed a little sad to leave when it came time to pick her up. They walk and play with the animals quite a few times a day, and are always attentive to any special instructions (like her special blanket!) that you may have. more

Great Doctors 9/23/2005

We have taken our cat here several times and they have also done an excellent job. The staff is very friendly and you can see that they love animals. Each time I have been in everything has been explained very well with options on what I would like done. When I leave with my cat, he is always in better shape than when he arrived. more

Compassionate staff 9/20/2005

The staff at Covington Veterinary Hospital is very compassionate. We took our cat in for a check-up here and again when she had to be put to sleep. The staff was very kind and considerate both of these times. They made sure we understood all the options so we could make the best choice. They did a good job of helping us through a very sad experience. more
