Vanis Salon & Day Spa

I have been going for years to Vanis and Katie does my hair. She is an amazing hair artist and I personally have not had a bad experience and have never heard the owner Chris talk out loud let alone yell or be rude like some other person had reviewed. If you are looking for a good stylist call Vanis and ask for Katie to do a makeover on you and you will meet an amazing stylist and she is an amazing person on the iinside too! I love Katie and Vanis! more

I have been to Vanis in Schererville twice and will not be returning! The first time a few years ago I went in for a very expensive Brazilian wax and walked out with a very painfully burned "lady part". Today I decided to give it another go and went in for a 60 minute massage, the room was cold, the blankets were cold, my masseuse's hands were cold (obviously because of the room temp), the music was not soothing at all unless you enjoy tribal bugle piercing sounds, doors slammed outside of my room every few minutes (and other things were banging around), women were laughing and gossiping loudly in the "spa" halls for most of my visit and to top it all off the front desk girls were gossipy little snobs that snickered and whispered when clients walked in. A few of these things I could have let go but all together they kept me from enjoying my massage. I should have been able to relax the entire time not just a few minutes here and there. It was just too much which is too bad because my masseuse was actually pretty good, I just wish the salon wasn't so horrible. The one star I gave them was for "Kylee" not for Vanis! I should mention that this is my first review and it takes a whole lot to get me this worked up! more

Good: Loved my stylist chelsea sweet and talented, got a great haircut and i have difficult curly hair. Bad: The manager or owner i think his name is chris RUDE!!!!! and Unprofessional he yelled at his employees and was a pushy salesman. He ruined my experience. Improvements: Him gone.. Other: If you want a great cut for difficult thick hair go to chelsea!. more

I have had nothing but wonderful service at Vanis. Amy is great at facials, make up, and everything else a full service spa offers ;) ! more

Too pricey for service. Why should I pay over $100.00 for a poor cut and style? Loud, a rude manager, and what's with all the music! How relaxing is that? more

Here's a place you would need to empty the bank or starve for a week to pay for what you get done, but in the end it's all worth it and a nice treat for oneself. The services are very pricey the quality of service is beyond excellent though. I love the manicures/pedicures there, they are so relaxing and it's nice to feel pampered once and a while. So I can go without some stuff for a while for a relaxing hour or two one day at Vanis. :) more

When I first moved here from Chicago, I asked people where I could go to get a good hair service. Most people said Vanis. It's a pretty salon but I wasn't very impressed with the customer service nor the hair service. The staff seemed rude. I'm sorry, this is Schererville, IN and no one in this area rates to be rude to anyone, no matter how long you have been in business. The impression that I got when I checked in was that the staff was very cocky and all they cared about was themselves instead of the other customers there. The people that were there being waited on didn't smile either. I found that to be a sign that most of people that go here are sheep following the crowd. more

I went to this beauty salon because a friend from work recommended it. Let me tell you I am very particular with my hair and I was very nervous about someone new doing it. Kristi did a great job. I had it colored and cut and styled and I came out of there smiling from ear to ear. I will return. more

Ever since I started going to Vanis, I have been thrilled with my hair. The stylists at Vanis are well taught and prepared to deal with different types of hair and styles. The day spa is also an excellent experience. The facials are so relaxing! It is well worth the money to go to Vanis for any of their services. They now have 3 locations in NWI as well: Valparaiso, Schererville, and Crown Point. more

The people that have worked on me for hair and facials have been great. The atmosphere is very relaxing and they do a great job. The only drawback is that it is a bit pricey for Indiana but they do work on a sliding scale. Meaning if you get the director to do your hair you are paying quite a bit but if someone is an Associate then it doesn't cost as much. more
