First of all, let me say this: I have 2 doctors at TVC whom I love. Dr. Elizabeth Morgan is a GREAT ob/gyn. She has squeezed me in when I had some concerns post-labor. My daughter's pediatrician is there too, Dr. Laurie Metzger. Once again, she is a great doctor. These 2 are the reasons I'm giving the clinic 2 stars. That's the only reason, otherwise it would be 1.
Now let me fill you in on my last 2 visits:
I recently had to visit the urgent care due to a OJI with my knee. I can't say I particularly cared for my doctor, Dr. Maniscalco (who isn't even a doctor, but a nurse practitioner) that day. He was rude, and didn't communicate well with me. I felt it wasn't the level of treatment I should have had. All he did was tell me to ice it and take ibuprofen. He didn't address the fact that I can walk just fine, but moving into a squatting postion hurt so bad I would cry. However, I was willing to overlook it because I figured I'd just use Dr. Coffee (like someone else said above, a PAC, not an MD like I wanted) next time, who had recently seen me for a back injury. He was pretty good, but I mostly just needed him to write me a note so I could be excused from work for a few days. When I called to make a new appointment so I could have my checkup for my knee, the scheduler set me up an appointment with Dr. Coffee, knowing full well it was a workman's comp claim from a week previous and a different doctor.
When I got to my appointment today, everything was fine until I got into the office and the nurse said that they shouldn't have scheduled me with him because I would normally have to use the same doctor who started my claim. I told her I didn't want to see Dr. Maniscalco again because I didn't like him in the first place, and my workman's comp allows me to change primary care providers up to 3 times. She said she would talk to the Dr. Coffee and let him know what was going on with my visit. Nowhere in there was she saying she would ask if he was willing to treat me. I sat there for 25 minutes waiting, and when she finally came back, it was to tell me that he was refusing to see me, but if I wanted a new doctor I could go visit the urgent care.
First of all, I don't want to see urgent care anytime I need a checkup. It's flat out ridiculous. Second of all, shouldn't your schedulers know your policies before making appointments? I'm a single mother who goes to school full time, and works full time. I don't have the luxury to sit around in doctors offices waiting so I can be refused service, or told to go find another doctor in the urgent care. Third, don't you think its ridiculous that because I needed to be seen at urgent care, that I am required to use that for the rest of my service? Whoever made that policy should pull their head out of their ass, because no one wants to use urgent care as their primary care provider.
From now on, I won't be returning to TVC unless its for Dr. Morgan or Dr. Metzger.
