another great out-of-the-way place on the North Shore 3/2/2006

This is a great place to spend a relaxing afternoon. Just outside Kaneohe proper, the Valley of the Temples is a cemetery and buddist shrine. They have some lovely buidlings, ponds filled with koi, and landscaping. It's very peaceful and worth the trip for a unique experience. more

nice atmosphere 11/11/2005

A very calming and soothing atmosphere despite being both a cemetary and somewhat of a tourist attraction. The grounds are well kept, even though there are a larger number of people passing through than most memorial parks. The Japanese temple is extremely authentic and the grounds are nice for just walking around and relaxing, the surroundings are quite beautiful. more

Cemetary/Botanical Garden 9/13/2005

Located on the windward side of Oahu, it is an actual cemetary which contains a beautiful garden open to the public for a small fee. When you enter by walking over a small bridge you are wisked to a japanese temple with a large bell you can ring for good luck and walk through an actual buddist temple. There are surrounding ponds with koi fishes and ducks. As you continue through the park you will probably encounter wild peacocks and can feed the various birds and fishes by purchasing feed at the small visitor's/souvenoir center. Nice place to visit for relaxation and simple pleasures. more

Windward Location 7/17/2005

The Valley of the Temples is a gated memorial park, and the beautiful landscaped grounds and temple often were featured in scenes from "Hawaii Five-O." more
