This clinic is hidden in that plaza where I heart Pho, Plato's Closet and the Boba Tea are perched up on a hill on MacArthur Blvd. I was very skeptical about acupuncture and herbal medicine. However, I had a really bad leg cramp for several days from running that hadn't improved with warm compresses and so I thought I'd give Dr. Chapa a try after reading the reviews and talking to some of my friends.\r

I called and I was easily able to make an appt. Dr. Chapa was friendly and professional. He examined my leg and put some acupuncture needles in my calf. I was expecting the worse, but I didn't even feel him putting them in! The needles are super-thin. I didn't notice an immediate effect, but my leg cramping completely resolved in the next 1-2 days.\r

As Dr. Chapa says, it's complementary medicine--that is, it complements Western medicine. It was very interesting talking to him about his view on CAM (Complementary and Alternative Medicine). His prices are reasonable and it turns out that my insurance covered some of the costs (you still have to pay your co-pay)!!! I didn't realize that you can use complementary medicine (acupuncture and herbs) for all kinds of health issues--weight loss, asthma, eczema, fatigue, infertility, etc. I will definitely be going back. \r
