Valley Mental health has helped me at times in my life. I can't deny it. If you need help NOW and can't even think straight, go. They can get you emergency care, and you won't have to worry about a lot of the things that apply below.
If you have options open to you for long term care/counseling, I would shop around.
It seems like a crapshoot who you get placed with. I've had everywhere from excellent to so horrible that I went to the front desk after one visit to request someone else.
The turnover rate is high, so even if the person I was seeing was great, I might not be with them for long.
They are kind of like a processing plant, and it seemed like anyone I was seeing had so many clients that they would get me confused of who I was or would need me to remind them of why I had been seeing them for months.
The waiting room made me want to crawl out of my skin. I think a lot of people are there because of court order. I wasn't.
I just want to try to make my life a better one. I have a lot of problems with anxiety and feeling like I'm not safe. So. There I was. In a waiting room with a lot of yelling. Sometimes odd behavior of people punching things. Bad odors. I'm clean and quiet and pretty nervous. Is there some kind of ""safe room"" I don't know about? That part of it was all very triggering and counter productive for me.
