How does insulation affect your energy use?
Imagine a house that's insulated completely. Cold and heat don't escape it easily, and the house's interior is protected from outdoor temperature fluctuations. This house's HVAC system does not have to work very hard to maintain the building's temperature.
Now, think of a building with little home and attic insulation. When the HVAC system warms up the house, the heat escapes and the HVAC system must heat the home continuously. This second home uses much more energy to maintain its temperature. Which home's energy bills do you think are lower?
