The cake was delivered with the chocolate icing (scrolling on one tier, 3-dot clusters on the other) bleeding, the decorating done very poorly. (Scrolling was uneven, not nicely curved and smudged in an area; the dot clusters were uneven and not level within clusters; the ribbon indented the cake corners.) The reception attendants tried to address the bleeding with the baker and her helper, but they claimed no responsibility. They were rude, unprofessional and rushed away. Several commented on how poorly the cake was decorated. I called several different days to speak with the owner/baker and was told she would call me back; she never did. When I finally got a hold of her, she stated the bleeding was normal. When I showed pictures of the cake pointing out specific problems, she said 'I'm human.' She said the employee who took the order should have attached a photo of what we wanted, even though the contract named the design, the scrolling that was on a large picture on display in the bakery, yet she didn't copy it. There has been no offer to make restitution and no hint of any apology, not even perchance any miscommunication. They expressed no concern with the fact that I could not recommend their bakery, saying in so many words that it wouldn't hurt their business. I am pursuing restituton for the cake as they have made no effort whatsoever to accept any responsibility and clearly do not take seriously the importance for a bride and groom to have a beautiful, professionally done cake, that when a couple orders one from a bakery that claims that is what they provide it is what the couple is entitled to. Valley Bakery didn't take seriously the fact that when someone pays for a cake, they are being entrusted with something very important and costly. My daughter and her husband will forever have the pictures of this cake, that as she said, 'the only thing wrong with my wedding was the cake was bleeding...'
