I was a patient at FVIM about 5 years ago and recently went back for a simple prescription. As a returning patient Dr. Tomlin worked with me and he was very caring and helpful. However, when I received my bill I was charged an additional $73.29 for a "new patient exam". I called and eventually spoke with Joy the office manager for about 10 minutes. She said that I had not had an appointment in 3 years so according to "coding guidelines" I was given the "new patient exam" in addition to the doctors visit for the prescription. During my visit, at no time was I told that I would receive the additional exam but they charged me for it anyway. The office manager Joy said that she would not remove the $73.29 charge and that I should have asked about what exams I was receiving even though I was unaware of the "coding guidelines". ARE YOU KIDDING ME? Here is some advice for FVIM. Please give me the service I ask for, and if there are extra exams that are needed, simply tell me about them while I'm there. Don't slip extra exams in my visit and say I should have asked or I should have known about the "coding guidelines". FVIM can make this right by negotiating my $73.29 charge, they have my phone number. If not, my family and I will not be returning to FVIM.
