VCA Northside Animal Hospital

On behalf of my family and myself, I want to thank all the caring and compassionate staff at Northside. We had to take our beloved Buddy to them yesterday and was told some very bad news regarding our dog. We had to make the biggest decision of our lives yesterday, which tore our hearts but ALL the staff were very patient with us. Once we did make the decision to let our beloved family member go, they came in and said a prayer with us and even hugged us. Thank you Northside for being compassionate during our most trying time. more

I took my dog to northside when he wasn't feeling well in early June. I was worried so I called first thing when they opened at 7am. The girl that answered was rude but I did get an appointment the next afternoon. When I came in I waited for over 2 HOURS - ridiculous! The doctor (Dr. Allar) was condescending. She was rough with my dog & seemed irritated that he wouldn't sit still for her (he was scared & not feeling well!) & at one point she yelled at him. They took some blood & x-rays but never did figure out what was wrong. I was given an estimate but it far exceeded it. I took my dog home after a lot of money & no real treatment & went to another vet. My dog is doing fine now thanks to NOT going back to northside. more

I was referred to Northside by my vet because she was unable to perform the surgery my cat needed. I had some idea of what the expense would be, but I was elated when I discovered it would be MUCH cheaper than what I had been told by others. The operation was a success, the techs and both vets were very kind and personable, and even though I arrived almost two hours early the first day, they took me right in. So I will keep them on my list of dependable vets and would recommend them to anyone in the future. more

If you can get past the ridiculous wait in the front office - on the way in and the way out - you might like the doctors. Plan on spending HOURS if you go for an appointment. The front office is extremely poorly run. They overbook and you will waiting there for a long time even when you have an appointment. You have to wait even to pick up dog food. One of the doctors poured glue down a laceration on my dog's side. It puddled in an area about the size of a quarter and the only way it came off was by pulling off a deep chunk of her skin. They had put stitches in and both sets popped open. I think this office used to be very good because they came highly recommended to me by people who had been going there for years. But in the last year even one of those people has decided to go elsewhere, as have I and about 3 others of my friends. I just don't think it's the place it used to be when it got such high ratings. PROS: Caring veterinarians. CONS: Incredibly long wait for anything more

Our pet cat is a patient and they are so great with her. Everyone is very friendly. When we had to put our old dog down they were so caring and comforting. About a month after our loss we received a beautiful card expressing their sympathy for our loss. Very caring staff!! more

Even though my dog had to be muzzled, I loved the doctors here. They spent like 20 minutes with me and talked to me about my dog and were so caring. They gave me advise and tips and made sure that I got my moneys worth by clipping toe nails, cleaning anal glands, and brushing teeth. They even shaved my dogs rear end. I was very impressed by how personable the doctors were. PROS: Great Doctors. Reasonable Prices. Lots of Patient Time. Caring. CONS: Office staff is not as friendly as the doctors. Wait time is somewhat long more
